Time for something different.
I walked into the kitchen yesterday evening and hubby's glass just sat there on the bench with subtle backlighting. Yes, I had to photograph it. LOL>

If we didn't already live in Portland, we're positive these Travel Portland Scout Books would make us want to visit. The talented Amy Ruppel created this two-toned illustrative representation of our fair city: big deer statues, Mt. Hood, evergreen trees galore.
Lovely.
Cutest. Cover. Ever.
We're going gaga over this awesome Scout Book from Loft Home Decor of Austin, Texas. Loft Home customized one of the Scout Books to include a two-color cover. Sweet!

Luke Ramsey is awesome. He creates beautiful, intricate pieces of artwork that include zines, murals, paintings and prints. He also runs Islands Fold, an independent publisher and artist residency in B.C., Canada.
We ran into Luke last summer at the Portland Zine Symposium, and saw him sketching in a Scout Book! Quickly gave him another, and within weeks he had filled it up and sent us images. At long last, here is what the fantastic Luke Ramsey did with the 32 grid pages of a Scout Book.
Awesome! Thanks, Luke.
Flyleaf Creative is a creative communication, branding and design company who works closely with arts and corporate clients. They recently printed two sets of Scout Books to be packaged together as a special New Year's gift and given to those they work with. One book features a fly while the other features leaves – a cute illustrative play on their company's name. What lucky folks to receive these books this New Year!

These Scout Books are HOT!
Mt. Hood Community College’s Integrated Media Program recently had it’s yearly Portfolio Show featuring the work of 18 graphic design students and 12 digital photography students of the class of 2010. They handed these Scout Books out to more than 500 attendees of the show and encouraged them all to vote on their favorite portfolio. The book was also used to take notes on each participant and served as a great take-away.

A surreal glass sculpture appears to twist and flow like a ribbon in the wind, bathed in the golden hues of a sunlit field. Framed against a crisp blue sky, this striking piece blends photography and AI to create a captivating fusion of nature and imagination. This artwork, crafted by Duncan Rawlinson, highlights the harmonious interplay of light, color, and movement, inviting viewers into a world where art and technology converge seamlessly.

Portland artist and designer Justin Gorman created these awesome business cards that invite interaction: we tried a few ourselves!
May this season bring all (whosoever will) to The Reason (Jesus) why we need the promises it carries and the hope it provides. As life returns to the hectic pace of its march to the ever-increasing beats and "you can do it all" messages, may we keep our eyes on the prize that is beyond this temporary world and its troubles. If you have hope in Christ, you have hope for eternity.
The original image was of Christmas bulbs. I ran that through the Android "Mirror Lab" app and then took the kaleidoscopes I made and used the PIP (Picture in Picture) editor in "Photo Studio Pro" to put the scopes in Christmas bulbs plus blurred out behind the bulbs and ribbons. I then used the paint function to add the stars and the framing function to add the cute candy-cane striped border and holly leaves.

..Our unobedient two fingers start rocking with western music.
..Our lascivious eyes scan the truthful hips of Shakira...
...While Tagore's song start having sedative effect on our rusted souls.
The enormous task of instilling the spirit of Bangla inside these mislead hearts is still unfinished.

These skeletal Scout Books were created by Matthew Trevaskis of Hola Pistola. The image on the books was created from one of his favorite etchings by his favorite illustrator and artist, José Posada. Living and working in Melbourne, Australia, Trevaskis has plans for more pieces honoring Posada to accompany these Scout Books in his shop soon!
