Mia Christopher is a whirlwind of bright productivity. As a multi-disciplinary artist residing in San Francisco, Mia is filling the art world with color and whimsy, participating in group and solo shows up and down the West Coast as well as internationally. All this while she's working toward her BFA from the California College of the Arts. We can't wait to see what's next from Mia. Stay tuned for more Scout Books from Mia; she filled up THREE with playful illustrations and material studies.

Java City was founded in Sacramento, CA in 1985 and has grown to be a hand-crafted, specialty coffee roaster, retailer and wholesaler. Scrappers is a Portland-based multi-media artist. He is also the Art Director at the Portland Mercury. He recently distracted himself at work by filling up this Scout Book. But don't tell his boss.

SMS Inc. contacted by Suzuki to create a modular, streamlined, expandable, metal merchandising fixture. SMS determined the solution had to be durable yet lightweight and easy-to-ship to minimize fulfillment costs. Tara Hogan designed this terrific folded poster for CNY Yoga Center. I'm thoroughly impressed with the many functions this one print project serves: it's a mailer, an informational brochure, a membership form, a calendar, and a lovely poster with great illustration. Nice job, Tara!
I took an ordinary snap of the 'ordinary' pigeon and made it extra -ordinary in a really playful way.
When Will Bryant and Mark Menjivar join forces, terrific things happen. Terrific chipboard things, to be specific.
Will and Mark worked together to create this identity system for the youth advocacy arm of Texas RioGrande Legal Aid (TRLA). Mark works with TRLA to offer aid to youth experiencing homelessness. He got in touch with Will to help him create a series of print items that could be at once beautiful, useful and durable. From that collaboration came three print pieces: a business card, a pocket postcard, and a Scout Book with custom-printed interiors that acts as a Youth Rights Booklet. Will also did the lettering and design for the snazzy TRLA Youth website. Chipboard internet? We’re into it.
In addition to being a chance to create a set of fun printed pieces, Will looks at this collaboration as an opportunity to help out: ”Enabling youth [with] the opportunity to better their circumstances is huge! Most of the kids come from rough backgrounds, so having access to this knowledge empowers them and provides hope for the future,” he told us. “It’s a blessing to be involved with a project that does this.”
Frances May is a Portland boutique run by a grandmother-granddaughter pair. We printed this business card for them on Environment 100# White Cover stock, in a Warm Gray Pantone soy-based ink.

Schlage sought out SMS because they trusted them to manage the entire dump-bin program. From design, engineering, to production, assembly, warehousing and inventory management-we handled it all. This display was designed to be extremely customizable based on store space and product sku's stocked at each store. Each display ships out with custom product chips made to order.

Girls Can Tell is a small screen printing shop in Philadelphia. Their Etsy shop is chock-full of useful items, including these Scout Books illustrated with informative and beautiful diagrams by Sara Selepouchin. I think my favorite is the brain. I like that idea–perfect for a pocket notebook! I only wish I could write directly into my brain. The quest for more memory continues.

This bag is made out of black and silver vinyl (reptile print), has a silvertone buckle on the front and is lined with a bright green vintage fabric, with a zippered pocket.
The shoulder straps are made out of window rolling-shutter straps.
