At the Baltimore Comic-Con this past weekend, the British Embassy in Washington celebrated what is GREAT about the comic book, science-fiction and creative industries throughout the UK.
British Comic book artists Mike Carey, Paul Jenkins, and Roger Langridge participated in a panel themed around the ‘British Invasion’ of American comics. In the 1980s, a number of British writers and artists started producing work for American comics and brought a fresh take that appealed to fans and critics alike. This has been coined the ‘British Invasion’. To celebrate this longstanding theme, the British Embassy exhibited at the Comic-Con, showcasing what is GREAT about the creative industries in Britain – from Doctor Who to Game of Thrones to Watchmen to Harry Potter to Wallace & Gromit, and the many British contributions to the creative arts.
In addition to the panel, a number of British Creatives, including Mark Buckingham, Barry Kitson, Brian Bolland and others were on the floor, signing autographs, drawing and speaking with fans.
The UK has one of the largest creative sectors in the world, and British artists have also excelled in the areas of music, computer games, fine art, fashion, and film.

Baltimore, Maryland, USA.
7 September 2012.
***************
â–¶ Mr. McGinnis is holding a pour from a firkin (10.8 U.S.-gallon cask) of the brewery's Pearl Necklace Stout.
☞ The stout is brewed with Perle hops and, yes, actual Rappahannock oysters harvested in Virginia. 5.5% abv; 35 IBUs.
☞ A portion of proceeds from sale of the beer —cask, keg, or bottle, wherever it is sold— benefit the Chesapeake Bay Oyster Recovery Fund.
☞ Flying Dog serves cask ales during every Baltimore Orioles Friday home game, both at the centerfield Roof Deck Bar and at Section 23, on the lower concourse.
***************
â–¶ It was a hot afternoon: note the bag of ice cooling the cask. Not so hot were the Orioles. They lost to the visiting New York Yankees, 3-4.

A designed publication that documents the creative process of a year long design project centering on the idea of developing emotion as a communicative medium.
This book follows the development of the project from initial brainstorming stage right till the final execution of different experimental approaches.
374 pages, laser-prints on off white munken print cream paper, perfect bind.
This is print I made for my "creative print" assignment. The assignment was to make a print using any method we would like, the only rules were to do research on different printing processes and use one (or several) to make a print using some form of photo paper.
I chose to combine two negative into one image. The image on the top was flipped to work better with the composition of the lower image. After I had a print I was happy with I used a little Farmers Reducer to brighten some of the sea foam then sepia toned the print.
