An exceptional piece of work from Erin.

New to us, Erin has explored the craft of glass making.

A significant number of manufacturing decisions have been generated by this bold, ambitious, supremely elgant and tasteful project. Many pf these decisions are yet to be resolved but Erin has produced a mature and accomplished solution here demonstrating a knowledge of craft that is rare in pupils at this age and stage.

The S4 Craft & Design class are now using this site as their primary source of teacher/peer review and feedback. Observations on work in progress will be made by Mr. Jennings on a regular basis. Comments from the class will be encouraged and moderated by Mr. J. Comments and tags will be altered over time to better reflect the content. Given the massive quantity of paperwork generated by classes in the department this would appear to be the most efficient feedback mechanism.

Ally preferred to design by making. Freed from the constraints of the blank page Ally realised that he could design just by trying things out. This is one of a series of attempts that was gradually refined and became a really good solution.

Rowan want through the department about four years ago. Her development pages demonstrate real continuity in her design thinking. The whole folio is really coherent, graphically concise, thorough and the practical outcome was quite unique.

She's away off to train to be a doctor. Good luck with that Rowan!

The carry pencils and these 3 sketchbook(color patchwork, rose and purple), they are handmade for me, as well as, the cover handmade paper that is recycled. To do covering sketchbook I used one type of marble texture created and developed for me.

this marble texture has a very pretty, interesting and different effect.

It is available in next colors: red / orange, yellow, rose, light green, purple.

“CRAFTdesign” Talk at The High reveals Design’s Other Side

Location: Atlanta High Museum of Art, Hill Auditorium, Atlanta, Georgia

CRAFTdesign was Moderated by Linda O’Keeffe, Creative Director, Metropolitan Home,

CRAFTdesign is an informative and entertaining discussion about the rising interest and contemporary design’s acceptance of the detail-oriented, intellectual and oftentimes emotional appeal achieved by combining craft values and design. The result is the creation of desirable “hybrid” new antiques and expressive objects that borrow from craft traditions while ever mindful of the fact that we live in modern times.

CRAFTdesign Panelists:

Dan Fomosa, Design & Research, Smart Design

Manfred Junker, Chief Designer, Poggenpohl Mobelwerk, Germany

Claudia Winegardner Phd, Georgia Tech Industrial Design Program
