Taller ''Craftdesign'' (Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Alicante). Este taller, que forma parte de la Semana de la Moda y el Diseño, explora las múltiples posibilidades del textil y sus diferentes aplicaciones a través de diferentes técnicas para la creación y el desarrollo de nuevos productos.
Card cut-outs used to play around with shape combinations in the S3 clock project. Good shape compositions photographed and included in the Investigation stage in the pupil folio.
Stephen created the bowl and fruit during the S4 Craft & Design course.
The bowl is 'brick built' from various hardwoods. The banana was formed using the sanding machine and the other fruits were turned.

JAN MULLER BIJ DE OPENING VAN CASA EUROPEA 1 IN ANTWERPEN, FEBRUARI 1994.

Op 19 februari 1994 vond bij het Bouwcentrum in Antwerpen, tegenwoordig Antwerp Expo, de opening plaats van de 21e editie van de woonbeurs Je huis een thuis. Deze achtdaagse beurs kon in die tijd rekenen op zo'n 75.000 bezoekers.
De expositie CASA EUROPEA 1 was een kroon op het werk van Jan Muller van Galerie KIS in Amsterdam. Vier jaar daarvoor in de eerste maand van de jaren 1990 had deze galerie haar deuren geopend in de Paleisstraat in Amsterdam.
Een jaar later in april 1991 werd hij door Tracy Metz in het NRC Handelsblad aan geïntroduceerd als:"Initiatiefnemer Jan Muller, die niet alleen in het complex werkt maar er ook jarenlang woonde, was de enige gegadigde voor de reusachtige hal waar vroeger de persen stonden."
Over de oprichting verteld hij in dat krantenartikel:
„Toen ik anderhalf jaar geleden die ruimte inderdaad kreeg, dacht ik: ben ik nu helemaal gek geworden?" Samen met Peter Overdijk en nog een handjevol gedreven mensen die bereid waren tijd en zwaar werk bij te dragen hebben ze die hal en de ruimtes eromheen verbouwd. „Het idee is," zegt Muller, „dat zowel particulieren als bedrijven hier terecht kunnen voor alles op het gebied van het interieur, van textiel tot en met verlichting, meubels en architectonische vormgeving. Iedereen die hier over de vloer loopt, heeft die intentie."
Over de best nijpende lopende gang van zaken stelde Trace Metz verder:
Op de uitnodiging voor de Q.E.D.tentoonstelling staat: „Bewaar dit blad als onderdeel van de binnenkort verschijnende KIS-klapper". Die klapper is er nog niet en aan de nieuwsbrief wordt ook nog gewerkt. Er is geen geld voor, want noch de verbouwing, noch het beheer van winkel en galerie worden volgens Muller gesubsidieerd. „We hebben nog niet het punt bereikt dat het niet meer stuk kan," zegt Muller. „We zitten nog op de schopstoel. Maar elke schroef en elke lasnaad is van onszelf. Voor zover er nog iets te bespeuren is van de krakersideologie van vroeger is het de mentaliteit van zelf doen."
Van vertwijfeling was op de eerste Casa Europea geen plaats meer. De catalogus van de expositie wist te vermelden:
"Casa Europea: een denkbeeldig huis van Europa, wordt geconstrueerd met behulp van inzendingen uit verschillende collecties op het gebied van de vormgeving uit België, Duitsland, Engeland, Nederland en Oostenrijk. In zaal 3 van het Bouwcentrum wordt door de Nederlandse vormgever Frits Nossbaum een ruimte ingericht waarin Europese galeries, ontwerpersgroepen en agentschappen een bijzondere ambiance zullen creëren. Casa Europea zal, anders dan in de omliggende beurszalen, een meer museaal overzicht gegeven Europese meubel presenteren.
Dit overzicht richt zich op kwaliteit, en de deelnemers aan Casa Europea werden zodanig geselecteerd dat de bezoeker een gevarieerd en aantrekkelijk venster wordt geboden op hedendaagse ontwikkelingen in het Europese vormgeven. Centraal staat het publieksvriendelijke en betaalbare interieurprodukt dat als unica of in kleine oplagen werd vevaardigd: tafels, stoelen, kasten, lampen, glaswerk, keramiek, gebruiksvoorwerpen, textiele vormgeving. objecten etc....Daarnaast zal aandacht worden geschonken aan experiment en vormstudie; het ontwerp van de toekomst."
Voor Galerie KIS was deze expositie de opening van een serie beurspresentaties in de opvolgende jaren. Een maand later hadden ze een vergelijkbare expositie in het beurscomplex van Zuid Laren tussen Assen en Groningen, Droom Design geheten. Die was het jaar erop geprolongeerd, en toentertijd waren er ook enige presentaties van Craft Design in Londen. Geen van deze presentaties evenaarde
De ambitie om een drijvende kracht en bindende factor in de Nederlandse vormgeving werd hem door andere partijen uit handen genomen.

More originality from Megan. A natural design student with a real flair for layout and a bold, confident and gutsy style her work has just got better and better over the course of S3. We look forward to seeing what she comes up with over the course of S4.

Rowan want through the department about four years ago. Her development pages demonstrate real continuity in her design thinking. The whole folio is really coherent, graphically concise, thorough and the practical outcome was quite unique.
She's away off to train to be a doctor. Good luck with that Rowan!
