We visited the offices of The News during our stay, the biggest English language newspaper in Pakistan. This was enough of an event that it warranted a colour photo the next day, next to all the cricket news. Pity they didn't put a photo of us in action though...

About Ant-Man and The Wasp

From the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes “Ant-Man and The Wasp,” a new chapter featuring heroes with the astonishing ability to shrink. In the aftermath of “Captain America: Civil War,” Scott Lang grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a Super Hero and a father. As he struggles to rebalance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside The Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from the past.

“Ant-Man and The Wasp” is directed by Peyton Reed and stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Peña, Walton Goggins, Bobby Cannavale, Judy Greer, Tip “T.I.” Harris, David Dastmalchian, Hannah John-Kamen, Abby Ryder Fortson, Randall Park, with Michelle Pfeiffer, with Laurence Fishburne, and Michael Douglas. Kevin Feige and Stephen Broussard are producing, with Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Charles Newirth and Stan Lee serving as executive producers. Milwaukee, WI

Protest Day 111

Despite a downturn in national coverage and a division of activities, the protests in Wisconsin are far from over. On June 4th, as hundreds set up camp in the new Walkerville in Madison, and more converged at the Wisconsin Democratic Convention, thousands took to the streets of Milwaukee to march for education rights. On a day of record-breaking muggy heat, they marched two miles across the Groppi Unity Bridge, the site of early protests for Open Housing in this city. Nothing could more clearly highlight the racial and economic divisions of our community.

In Milwaukee as in other parts of the state, public education has dealt with continued funding cuts over the last 20 years, and is already operating at bare-bones levels. In addition the 'funding flaw' for choice and charter schools means the number of students is systematically underestimated, meaning the schools receive less money per pupil. According to the School Board, Superintendent, and teacher and parent organizations, the $900 million dollar state cuts to education will not just mean losing art, gym, and music classes. It will mean closing schools in some of our poorest communities, limited bus service to get them to other schools; loss of teacher's aides, reading specialists, math specialists, librarians, administrators; class sizes approaching 35-40 children, an end to special programs, early education programs, after-school programs, breakfast programs and some free lunch, all of which are designed to serve the 82% of MPS students who live in poverty. The expansion of the choice school program and the lifting of the income cap means that more money (outside the $900 million) will flow into private schools, and the low-income children currently enrolled there will be phased out.

Marching under the banner "Our Children Count", Milwaukee parents, teachers, children and community members asked the state to recognize our laws guaranteeing decent and equal public education for all people, regardless of race or income level.
