Taken last summer and only just processed! This little jumping spider was hiding in a potted plant in the garden. I took the spider and the plant into the kitchen to make use of the great natural light which filters through the kitchen blinds. I also used my Canon Speedlite 580 EX II diffused with paper towel for fill. Taken with my Canon EOS 1D MK3 and Sigma 150 macro and extension tubes. In Aperture3 I did a basic adjustment to the exposure and cloned out dust. In Photoshop I did adjustments with levels and vibrancy and a little dodging around the eyes to separate them. I enhanced the greens with the foliage filter in Nik color Efex pro 3. Then with Nik sharpener I painted a little sharpener around the spiders eyes and head to give a little extra crispy pop :-))
The dandelion seeds you see on the image were on the plant (as they were all over the garden). I thought it would look visually appealing to include them so I arranged them for composition. As always when shooting living creatures have respect for the subject and be aware that when working in macro with such a shallow dof, a good measure of patience should be included in your shoot.

The large double-spanned curved glass and iron roof of Brighton station, which was constructed in 1882/1883, is supported 75 feet above the platforms on cast iron columns. Substantial renovation work on the roof, which covers all eight platforms, was carried out in 1999/2000.
Beneath the fine structure class 442 unit 442 421 has just arrived in platform 4 with the 14.00 from Victoria which had just one intermediate call at Gatwick Airport. On the right, in platform 5, sits the stock of the 13.50 from Victoria which had called at Clapham Junction, East Croydon, Horley and Burgess Hill.
To the right of that can be glimpsed a 377 unit in the old First Capital Connect livery.

The August burlesque benefit for an upcoming independent vampire gay-friendly serial killer picture, FEED, is an all-out party, and a welcome mix of performers from my side of the downtown scene, brought together with the Coney Island Sideshow circuit and some players from the BadAss Bowery contingent.
BUT WAIT. I am corrected. It's not vampires, it's cannibals. My bad!
So at the show there's fire, and some in-your-face performance art, and right in the middle of things there's Legs Malone.
I'm asked to donate a few photos for the raffle, which I'm pleased to do, and in a bit of cheery karma I win - from the same raffle - a super painting of Johnny Cash as a Day of the Dead sugar skull.
