While at the Lotus Pond was saw plenty of dragonflies all over the place.
Found a good spot and waited for some to land - and wouldn't you know it, this green fellow landed on the ground right next to my feet. Filled with excitement I waited for it to fly to one of the reeds in front of me but it never did. It took off and then promptly returned to the same spot next to my feet. Of course!
So, bending over to try and get a decent shot I managed this one. Glad I did, too, because shortly afterward it pulled a Houdini and disappeared. I'm thinking this may be an immature male Eastern Pondhawk. Let me know if you know differently.

View from the club house at the Yugawara Country Club (yugawara-cc.com) in Yugawara (湯河原), Japan. And no, I wasn't playing, otherwise I would still be there now searching for lost balls.
I had special permission to visit the club house and take some photos in this spectacular location. It had been raining all morning, so this break in the clouds was very fortuitous!
When I visit other people's streams, I like to leave encouraging comments or respectful critique. I never leave images, logos or text based decorations in my comments. I'd really appreciate it if you could do the same for me. Thank you!

This is an experiment on editing color. Today I am going to do a course on Elements, hope it will rub off as I feel I lag a lot of knowledge there.
I am one of these city girls who takes the car for every thing, so I can only dream of cycling, but this is also due to extreme workpressure.

Natürlich dürfen hier auch die PORSCHE's nicht fehlen.
Of course, the PORSCHE's shouldn't be missing here either.
Just a short walk this afternoon around Prestwick Golf Course!

No, the two boats didn't hit each other, but they sure looked like they might for a few seconds! The larger vessel was moving much more slowly, but as you can see from the spray coming up from the vessel in the foreground, it was really hauling through the inlet headed out to sea.
This shot was taken at Ponce Inlet. You can see the jetty and the fishing pier on the left. this is the actual inlet area where the Halifax River meets the Atlantic Ocean. Across the inlet lies New Smyrna Beach, the city just south of the Greater Daytona Beach area. Ponce Inlet is the most southern part of our beach side, and one of the prettiest parts of it. Known for fishing and surfing, the two don't always mix well, as the fishing draws sharks. The larger waves here draw the surfers, so it's easy to see why this area, and New Smyrna, also, is one of the most notorious places for shark attacks in the state of Florida.
One of my friends was a lifeguard when he was young, and was bitten on the heel as he paddled on his board! Now that Katherine, the 14' Great White Shark has been frequenting our waters, you won't catch me in them! I sometimes miss the ignorance of childhood, when I never thought about such things, but they are a reality here.
Nevertheless, Ponce Inlet will remain a favorite spot for locals and tourists alike because of its beauty.
The sky was rather flat that day, and the colors were so-so. I enhanced the sky with a cloud texture and added a touch of color to the horizon line for interest. The original, as always, is below.

One of my students suggested this on the eval today. If I knew who it was, they'd get an automatic A.

I have been trying F O R E V E R to get ANY shots of lightning!! i love it! i love thunderstorms! Last night a storm rolled in from the bay, and i felt the need to try again. This time i actually got something. Of course i was not content to try and get this from the window....or the porch of the beach house....i was in the street......leaning on metal! i did not think about that at the time....i was too fascinated with trying to capture anything other than a black sky and the house lights across the road!!
if you look REALLY close in the comment shots there are little lightning bolts there!!! i was super excited about that....i never ever EVER get those...i just wish there were more of them, but it was a flashing kind mostly behind the clouds. I can't wait to try this again....perhaps minus leaning on a metal vehicle!!!
oh...and i was pretty impressed with the high ISO on these too!! (yes...these were hand held, mainly because i was too excited at the prospect of shooting lightning...sorry Jeff, maybe next time!!)
