The countryside is synonymous with vast areas with landscapes, fields and meadows, barns and grazing animals. Abundance of space also brings the opportunity to store things that otherwise would be thrown away. Some things will get a second life, even as spare parts. Other things are just left to degenerate slowly..

In my short career in photographing old road vehicles I very rarely could take any pictures which would present them in cool countryside scenes, until one time in November, when we were waiting on a bridge above the coal mainline, I suddenly spotted a Magirus-Deutz fire truck slowly strolling in the distance. It then came closer to us and I could take a picture. The truck is a Iveco-Magirus 170, one of many which have been purchased by socialist Poland from Western Germany. It belongs to the volountary firefighting unit in Gąsiorki.

Yorkshire countryside on an early May morning at High Hunsley on the Yorkshire Wolds, Taken with a Canon EOS 600D 19 May 2021.

We had very cloudy day, and the sun almost refused to come out. Sunrise was a no event. The other photographers had already left the location, however we persisted. The sun then gratified us with about 10 minutes of sunlight altogether, during which I took this photo. Getting up at 1:45 AM did pay off after all!

I hope you like and enjoy it.
