Could you be anymore comfortable?!

Never could understand why he's called Red-Bellied when he's Red-Headed.....

Anyway, I really enjoy his company, he's

faithful to come visit everyday and dine on

the Sunflower Seeds. Bon Appetit, Red-Belly!

Could be anywhere (e.g. our garden), but this was actually near Ravenglass in Cumbria, England.

Could have been the whiskey, might have been the gin.

Could have been three or four six-packs,

I don't know, but look at the mess I'm in,

My head is like a football, I think I'm gonna die,

Tell me, me oh me oh my,

Wasn't that a party?

Someone took a grapefruit and wore it like a hat,

I saw someone under my kitchen table, talking to my old tom cat,

They were talking about hockey and the cat was talkin' back,

Along about then everything went black,

But wasn't that a party?

I'm sure it's just my memory playin' tricks on me,

But I think I saw my buddy cuttin' down my neighbour's tree,

Before archiving a folder earlier this year, I found this shot and another that I liked....

Crescent moon setting with the other 2 brightest night planets: Venus (bottom right) and Jupiter top. They were within ~10 degrees wide.

I haven't seen a star burst from the moon before especially as the aperture was only f/11. DPS has a good overview of how to do these. Note that since the 10-22mm lens had 6 blades for its aperture, this meant 6 points to the star. With odd number of blades, you get double the points eg 18 points with my new 16-35mm f/4 lens (9 blades)

There aren't a lot of aspects in Sydney for western/sunsets. I wanted the conjunction to be framed by a foreground and the only one I could find that lined up (thanks TPE) was from Mrs Macquarie's Chair. A fantastic spot and easy to get to but frequently shot.

I could convince myself this is a factory reflected in a puddle if I didn't know better. It is actually a long abandoned restaurant built on pilings above Rockport Harbor, which I have photographed many times, nicely disguised. HWW!

could have done with a longer lens so this image is heavily cropped hence the quality has dropped..

Could easily have done this in black and white, but hard for me to rob this one of its colour...

Uhmm, I mean, help me transporting this beer crate?

Toy Project Day 2128

Could it be that I climbed a signal mast to GTS of UP train CRMCY at Gothenburg? Sure looks that way. The time written on the slide mount is 1:05pm

I could hardly believe it when a flock of Nutmeg Mannikins suddenly appeared at Janice's yesterday...I'd only seen one once before, in January of this year at Weeks Bay Bog! These immature ones were so cool with splotches of dark brown in their plumage! They really loved the millet I thought to put on the rocks!

A non-native, introduced species to North America, they are also known as Spice Finches and are sold in pet stores...

In many years before the moment he finally accepted the Tu-104 commanding post, Capt. Babushkin had been in a ton of dangerous, exciting, exotic, and - you name it - other important assignments.

I found this pic as an excellent reference to base my illustrated narrative on. Let's imagine, Capt. Babushkin on it, flying this Lisunov-2 transport to the remote northern hamlets in Siberia!

Our cats could never do this as our windowsills are too shallow. I've always wanted wider sills so that I could place plants and knickknacks on them, and maybe even leave enough room for a kitty :)

I could not have captured this image before getting my knowledge expanded thanks to Aaron.

For BDCC monthly challenge - Wood Wide Web - A wide topic that could be anything from trees, blooming fungi or even something creative playing on the theme.

I found this a difficult one and since I haven't been able to get out and about much this month I went for the creative option. I thought about broccoli 'trees' but only had a little bit of useable broccoli, then I remembered my little bottle brush trees so combined the two with some dried leaves and berries for the 'forest floor'. So, not the greatest image but it's the best I could come up with as the month is drawing to a close.

Could not believe how high this lamb jumped?

I could hardly believe this was the same caterpillar that I had photographed earlier on September tenth! The pink on it was gorgeous! I had been worried it was not healthy but it looked fine today. Thanks to Kim for the identification of PawPaw Sphinx.

"That's what the ox from the meat bridge could have told me" is used when an answer to a question is predictable or unsatisfactory.

"I might as well have told that to the ox on the meat bridge" means something like 'talking against a wall'.

Incorporate these two proverbs into your language from time to time and see which of your fellow human beings already know the story behind them. We're sure not too many

But you're okay with this

So i'll just play it safe

And keep it inside..."

What could possibly be more uplifting than trees and blue sky? Well, it's just not working today! I feel miserable - thinking of giving up this photography lark - don't seem to be getting anywhere! But what else is there to do? The Beast from the East is here with -6 degrees and it is clashing with Storm Emma - so there is a lot of snow about, and its extremely cold. Don't want to go out for a nice bracing walk - think I'll make some bread, and hope that tomorrow will bring some blue skies and a better mood! xxx

I wish this pic could somehow be developed in to an accurate scratch and sniff photo, or that smell-o-vision really existed. The sweet peas themselves have an incredible bouquet but the scent of the rain hitting the gound after a warm, dry day was even more overpowering. It even has a name - Petrichor. The unique earthy smell that we all recognise and are incredibly sensitive to. It is caused by geosmin - a molecule released by bacteria in the soil after rain. As humans, we've got one up on all those other animals living in an olfactory world as we can detect it at around 5 parts per trillion! Take that dogs!

Spring has not yet truly arrived here at Keefer Lake ... we have still a foot or more of ice still on the lake and the earth is only starting to show through the snow in small patches. However, I am in a 'Spring state of mind' in spite of this and so I am combing the archives looking at Spring scenes from years past.

We came upon this intriguing path in the woods but had obligations that took us elsewhere that day. I have always wanted to go back and see where it leads.

'The Road Not Taken' (ROBERT FROST)

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not travel both

And be one traveler, long I stood

And looked down one as far as I could

To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,

And having perhaps the better claim,

Because it was grassy and wanted wear;

Though as for that the passing there

Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay

In leaves no step had trodden black.

Oh, I kept the first for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads on to way,

I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.

I thought we were doing what we could to practice personal safety with all this COVID-19 stuff, then I caught these two Trumpeter Swans in the back pond this morning. If they can do it, we can do it too!

Just kidding folks. Just a little photoshopping to add a little humor to our lives. No swans actually wore masks!

The backstory is that a friend in Anchorage mentioned that he had seen either swans or sandhill cranes on the pond behind his house. Of course, our ponds are still frozen, and it's early, but not to early for the swans. He said they were indeed swans, and that he was initially confused because they were wearing masks - teasing me because of the COVID-19 situation. Well, I loved the image it created in my mind and I made it so.

Orchids in the evening light. This little group of Pyramidal orchids with the tiny squinancywort and bird's foot Trefoil caught my eye with the twinkling low sun through the trees.

"Tonight I'll be your naughty girl

I'm callin' all my girls

We're gonna turn this party out

I know you want my body

Tonight I'll be your naughty girl I'm

Callin' all my girls

I see you look me up and down

And I came to party

You're so sexy

Tonight I am all yours boy

The way your body

Moves across the floor

You got me feelin n-a-s-t-y, I just might take you home with me"

Wish I could have a beer but I am waiting for a phone call to find out if I have been given a job. Good excuse to fool around on Photoshop.

Update - I got the job so it is off to Berwick Upon Tweed... Northumberland is the UK's hidden gem... Now where are those beers...

This image is from way back when - August 2009 - so please excuse the mistakes. This upload is more of a symbolic nature...

Is this the creative Peter Riedel who has created many rock sculptures throughout the Greater Toronto Area?

I could tell Mack and Jimmy were intrigued by something early yesterday morning. When I looked over the fence I found a skunk who has been hanging around our townhouse complex for over a week now. I also saw Ella on the far side of the skunk so, three cats, a skunk and I meet face to face in a Mexican standoff. Mack and Jimmy, being the dumb dumbs they are, jumped down off the fence and charged the skunk as much as they dared which placed them between the skunk and me so I had no way to shoo them away. Somehow, we all froze while the skunk rooted around for food in the grass and eventually sauntered away.
