If you can't wear a silly costume at this time of year, when can you? In case you didn't guess, I'm a unicorn.

It's curious that, while other countries' national animals are symbols of power like lions, eagles and bears, ours is a mythical creature, the unicorn. What does this tell us? I really don't know!

Daily Dog Challenge - 3523. 8/2 "Assistance"

We've been working on "glasses" in the background for the past few weeks, and I can now put them on top his head without issue.

Migrating them down to his nose is still a bit iffy, and given that the Sewing Machine was a novelty I decided not to press my luck.

The challenge of the Sewing Machine was getting him close enough to it. It's not that he's wary of it, as spent the entire setup time wandering around it sniffing... maybe he just didn't want to be rude. :)

Toby isn't unique on this, and over the years a trick I've found that tends to work is to bring the dogs up beside the object but not facing it (so, in this case, facing the camera) and then use the Cookie at the last minute to turn them toward the object - and here, lie down.

And that's what I did today.

An even easier technique is to get the dog into a down-stay and then move the object into place. That works for a "pro" like Henry who had a rock-solid stay, but Toby is a still a bit too bouncy for that approach.

Finally, for focus, I reached through the gap under the machine's neck and fed Toby a few Cookies, then pulled my hand back and "click"!

I'm really not a Halloween person, aside from wearing lovely costumes of course. It's a shame I won't be able to do so today. I feel I really need a few more and I'm absolutely itching to buy one or two soon.

I wander what people would want to dress up as if they were going to a fancy dress party with me. I'd particularly enjoy having a white rabbit accompany Alice ;)

Here's how my brain works. "I guess I can wear the French maid costume to the Halloween party tonight. I'll change after I go grocery shopping. (pause) Hey, grab the camera, I'm going grocery shopping!"

The West Indian Carnival at Leeds - 26th August 2019

Halloween is a very fun holiday for people like us. There have been Halloweens when I have gone out fully dressed as a regular "gurl" (left) and of course some when I have worn a costume (right). A costume is always fun but there is something special about going out as a female. It's fun to see how many people know you aren't a genetic female or take you as one. In my experiences I have gotten some positive interactions from both women and men. It seems the women are very interested in why you are dressed as a female. And because I really try to do a good job on looking as female as possible, women notice those little details such as a nice dress that fits you, perfect makeup, long (my own) and polished fingernails, having a handbag or purse, accessories like jewelry, and deportment such as moving, sitting, and walking as a female. It really is intoxicating!

So as Halloween is approaching what will you be wearing and portraying this year? And have you done both as I have described? I would love to hear your experiences. Have fun!

It was wonderful to be out and about in a costume again.

Just finished this! I was pretty rushed bc it was a busy week for me and I only had 6 days to draw this 😣😥 So I didn't get to do all the things I wanted to in the shading area :/

but anyway, thought I'd start sharing these cause thay make up 50% of the digital art I do 😊

Also comment if u think he looks mean cause, I was told that he did, but didn't have time to change anymore :/

Not sure who enjoys these Halloween festivities more...the parents, the pets or the children! Hmmm, I know...the photographers :o)

So Ariel really likes the human tradition of Halloween. She's decided to participate this year, but she doesn't know who she should be. She's narrowed it down to Megara or Belle. Who should she be for Halloween?

The Hakkas (/ˈhækə/; Chinese: 客家), sometimes Hakka Han, are Han Chinese people whose ancestral homes are chiefly in the Hakka-speaking provincial areas of Guangdong, Fujian, Jiangxi, Guangxi, Sichuan, Hunan, Zhejiang, Hainan and Guizhou. The Chinese characters for Hakka (客家) literally mean "guest families". (Wikipedia)
