This Heliconius numata aristiona butterfly, in addition to being beautiful, has an impressive costume. Perhaps a camouflage against predators. You can see it? Look for the almost hidden terrifying butterfly with its dark wings and a red-eyed skull under the main butterfly's head. (Best in Large)

Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) is a major holiday in Mexico and is widely celebrated in many US cities with large Mexican populations. Philly is not an exception. Here, it is mostly a parade organized by the local art center. They clearly put their hearts in it, and costumes are often very creative and memorable

At first I thought she made her top out of the stretchy stuff they put around your arm after you give blood. I happened to be wearing that green tape when I shot this! But I don't think that's what it is. Still sexy. :-)
