Some cosntruction progress for traffic and pedestrians. You would follow that road up to walk the upper road. We've decided its better to choose the low road.

I was walking past this construction site in Shieldfield, Newcastle upon Tyne and could not resist another attempt at this building which I photographed a few weeks ago.The work is progressing quickly and the colourful green cladding on the right adds something a bit different to the shot I think.

I processed this shot using the same techniques which I implemented on the RAW fileds from St. Mary's last weekend blending a black and white conversion with a desaturated layer of the tonemapped image.

Driving between Samdrup Jongkhar / Dewathang/Deothang towards Trashigang: throughout Bhutan roads are under cosntruction / repair. Landslides are frequent and the original roads were often narrow for twoway traffic. A lot of the roadwork is done by Indians and Nepalis who often live in huts by the roadside.

The main boulevard along the water that devides HK in two pieces. Victoria and Kowloon Island.

since i've been there there's been a huge boom of cosntruction:

City with the most skyscapers on Earth and the msot capitalistic piece of land on earth before Manhattan.

Hong Kong is located on China's south coast, 60 km (37 mi) east of Macau on the opposite side of the Pearl River Delta. It is surrounded by the South China Sea on the east, south, and west, and borders the city of Shenzhen in Guangdong Province to the north over the Sham Chun River. The territory consists primarily of Hong Kong Island, Lantau Island, Kowloon Peninsula and the New Territories as well as some 260 other islands. While Lantau is the largest island, Hong Kong Island is the second largest and the most populated. Ap Lei Chau is the most densely populated island in the world.[12]

Much of Hong Kong remains undeveloped as the terrain is mostly hilly to mountainous with steep slopes. Of the territory's 1,104 square kilometres (426 sq mi),[13] less than 25% is developed. The remaining land is remarkably green with about 40% of the landmass reserved as country parks and nature reserves.[14] Most of the territory's urban development exists on Kowloon peninsula, along the northern shores of Hong Kong Island and in scattered settlements throughout the New Territories. The highest elevation in the territory is at Tai Mo Shan, at a height of 958 metres (3,140 ft) above sea level. Hong Kong's long, irregular and curvaceous coastline also affords the territory with many bays, rivers and beaches. Lowlands exist in the northwestern part of the New Territories.

This is a detailed view of the track of the Volk's Railway, c1898. The Palace Pier was still under cosntruction at this time, and can be glimpsed in the background.

Went for a bike ride today and took time to investigate a construction site near my home. This machine caught my eye.

After the December rains, small sections of the reseeded bank slid.

But the bank held up very well, exactly as designed.

We used this slope during cosntruction to haul in heavy rock and equipment.

I thought I would include this one for any construction fans, just for the details and equipment. The sunlight on the ground in front is kind of distracting, but I couldn't work around it (with my limited time and skill set!). Most of all, the guy on the right seems like the classsic NYC cosntruction worker!

...and this time, the "collapsing lines" are not my lense's fault, but the architect's.

Built in 1990 and now closed pending demolition.

It's coming to something when you remember the cosntruction of major public buildings now being torn down.

Pasila station was designed with plenty of retail space for an economic boom and was completed just in time for a crushing recession. The upstairs units were never used much.

Two months on, and the pace of construction is much slower than the pace of demolition!

This former custodial area is transforming into the new WebDev office. In the far upper left the service elevator has been knocked out. The dividing wall has also been torn down. The main door from the hallway used to be placed before the ResNET office.
