Pleneau Island is located west of Booth Island at the southern end of the Lemaire Channel and features an array of iceberg scenery. In fact, an astonishing ninety-three percent of the world’s mass of icebergs is found surrounding the Antarctic. The word “iceberg” actually comes from partial Dutch translation meaning “ice mountain.” The term iceberg refers to chunks of ice larger than 5 meters (16 feet) and smaller chunks of ice are known as bergy bites (how cute!) and growlers. While Antarctic icebergs last typically ten years and Arctic bergs about two years, what’s interesting to note is the glacial ice that icebergs are made of could be more than 15,000 years old!

Taroko Gorge is an impressive 19-km-long canyon, situated near Taiwan's east coast. The area of the gorge is also identified as Taroko Gorge National Park.
Taroko Gorge began as coral deposits deep under the sea. Under pressure from geological forces, the coral was transformed into limestone and then marble, schists and gneiss. Five million years ago, as Taiwan was lifted from the sea by the collision of the Philippine and Eurasian plates, the gorge began to be formed. In essence, the upward thrust of hard rock, combined with the erosion of the soft layers from water and landslides left towering canyon walls to form the world's deepest marble canyon.

Since 2003, factory construction has erupted all around Yanglingang.
Today the little fishing village is surrounded by power plants, paper-making factories, and chemical plants. The water that flows beneath the fishing boats is the same wastewater discharged from the factories, and the air that fishermen breathe is the same acrid, chemical-tainted air polluted by the factories.
On the south bank of the Yanglin River, the power plants smoke stacks send down drifts of white ash on to the fishing boats.
On the north bank, paper factories discharge high volumes of wastewater, containing pulp that clogs up the fishing nets. In the last few years, eleven out of thirteen cancer patients have died in Yanglingang village. In March 2007,
55-year-old Li Shuzhong was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. After surgery and treatment, he can no longer work and is still on medication. Facing the invasive disease in his body, he is helpless.

In a snowy day, I drove through windy and heavy snow condition from Jokulsarlon passing East Fjords aiming to stop at the Capital of the East, Egilsstadir. My plan was to escape the bad weather condition in the South to find clear sky in the North for chance to see Northern Lights once more after seeing stunning show in the early of my trip.
