A tourist is waiting for his family at the medieval old town of Tallinn, Estonia. He seems to be a little tired of walking around.

A girl and her father are walking in a shopping center hand in hand. They seem to be spending a little shopping time together.

Well people always seem to love their hometowns, see it through rose colored glasses, know all the cool places to hang out and all the places to retreat to when they need a bit of solitude.

After days of cloud and snow I notice over breakfast that the sun was trying to break through.

Nothing for it but to grab my gear and head out.

Sunrise over the ocean. Clouds in hues of yellow, red, orange and pink and coloured reflections in rock pools at the coastal landscape rocks.

A splendid walk through the woods of the Ernici mountains, near the small medieval village of Vico in Lazio. The colors of autumn have completely enveloped us, giving us sweet emotions and beautiful memories.

'This picture was captured at the end of a long day of shooting. It had been a good day, but not great. As the sun dropped below the horizon, beautiful colours began appearing over the stark landscape. A small, but intense storm developed and began producing C.G. (cloud-to-ground) lightning. I jumped out of the vehicle and set up my tripod near an old wooden fence. Leaning over it I focused across the barren field and hoped for a bolt or two. Two my delight, that’s exactly what nature provided. The contrast and combination of blue, magenta and green yielded the shot of the day. It’s important to be patient. The best shot may come in the final hour of a long day. Never give up!' - Jim Reed

The unfinished Kalta Minor (short tower) Minaret was once designed to be the highest minaret of the Muslim East. Legend has it that Mohammed Amin Khan wanted to build a minaret so high that he could see all the way to Bukhara (387 km away). Had it been completed, it would have been the world's tallest building but the Khan dropped dead in 1855 and it was never finished

In addition to the grandiosity of the plan, the unusual decor is impressive as well. The ornamental cylindrical belts completely cover the shaft of the minaret. The wonderful skills of the Khorezm architects who created these decorative belts of green, turquoise, blue and white plates excelled here. It was hoped that Kalta-minar would surpass all other monumental structures in its magnificence, but history had it on its own way. Yet even this unfinished part of the minaret enraptures with its audacity of plan and variety of patterns.

Bletchley Park was the central site for British (and subsequently, Allied) codebreakers during World War II. It housed the Government Code and Cypher School (GC&CS), which regularly penetrated the secret communications of the Axis Powers – most importantly the German Enigma and Lorenz ciphers. According to the official historian of British Intelligence, the "Ultra" intelligence produced at Bletchley shortened the war by two to four years, and without it the outcome of the war would have been uncertain.

Getting used to the early morning flights and the late night returns. It might be scary, it might be tiring but there's something about travel that calms you down, makes you think, gives you time to reflect, gives you time in silence

I slowed the shutter on my camera to blur the action during the team roping event in the rodeo at the Blaine County Fair in Chinook, Montana.

A picture from the hamlet of Llandecwyn, overlooking the Dwyryd estuary. Llandecwyn Church is to the left of the image, the tidal island, Ynys Giftan, lies in the middle of the estuary and Portmeirion lies directly behind it. Moel y Gest stands centre stage with the village of Penrhyndeudraeth on the right hand side. Seven pictures were stitched together to create this panoramic image. In the native size, full-resolution version, Cricieth Castle can be seen clearly perched above the coastline between Portmeirion and Moel y Gest.
