Exploring the “Cumbre” of Gran Canaria (Canary Islands) in a lush nature made by recent rains between. Here an amazing message of the force of Nature.
Twice a year, on a few days, the sun sinks on the opposite shore of the elongated lake. This means that the warm colors of the sunset are reflected throughout the lake. However, the mountains prevent it from "sinking" completely into the lake.
The calm lake level made it possible to stand a bit in the water and hold the camera close above the surface to enhance the effect a bit more.
The picture was taken close above the water. In the foreground, the waves spread out in circles around the points where a stone has been thrown across and touched the surface.

“Torre Astura” is an medieval coastal defense tower, build on the island called by the ancients merely Astura at the southeast extremity of the Bay of Antium (Anzio). Existing remains show that many of the Roman nobility must have had villas there. The Tower is part of the medieval castle of the Frangipani family. The castle was later a fief of the Caetani, the Orsini and then the Colonna families.
While paddling my kayak in Baum Lake (Shasta County, California, USA) I spotted this Great Blue Heron standing proud and looking rather regal in the warm late afternoon light amid a large patch of dry teasel. My low vantage point, sitting right on the water, coupled with the slightly elevated bank added the bird’s proud appearance, at least in my humble opinion.

A nice walk, under the rain in the park called “Jardin Canario” a lovely and amazing botanic park in the Tafira area Gran Canaria (Canary Islands).

A few days ago, I was in "Butteri’s Wood" a nice place, a forest full of oaks not far from home. The "Butteri" are horse workers, now less and less, who manage the herds of cows, like the cowboys of American culture. A shot taken with my first digital reflex camera, an old but still nice to use Canon 600D and a vintage macro lens.
Walking in the Circeo National Park. This is a magic area full of history and gorgeous nature. A perfect place for the Magic Forest project with autumn mood.

Laguna Santo Domingo is a beautiful pond of clear pure water located in the south-east part of the Cotopaxi National Park. It is a perfect location to shoot the imposing Cotopaxi Volcano and its reflection on a calm day. The Lagoon is roughly a one hour drive on bad trails from the north entrance of the park and about one and a half hours from the south entrance. Better to have a 4wd vehicle, but the peace, the beauty and the view that you get of the volcano are well worth it.
After a great fire in the north east mountains of Gran Canaria (Canary Islands) the deep sadness of seeing the wounded nature, but also the joy of seeing its strength in recovering.
