Unfortunately both these places are not open at present. I feel so bad for the restaurants. I believe Legends did take out but that is still a loss.

I was shooting at Commonwealth Lake when this pied billed grebe bobbed up near where I was shooting. One of the closest I've been to one, and managed to get some decent near shots. What really struck me was the fascinating eye!

These days, even in the morning, it was too hot for a pleasant walk. In the forest, however, it looked quite different. These big trees are wonderful cooling machines. They evaporate huge amounts of water through their leaves and give off evaporative cooling to their surroundings. We should take good care of them.

There were flowering blackberry bushes near the little waterfall on the River Avon in Malmesbury, so I carefully went into the thorny bushes to be able to capture both the waterfall and the flowers.
A natural pool on the Lyell Fork of the Tuolumne River in Yosemite National Park. In June, with a bit of melting snow still feeding the river, this might have been a shock to the senses if you jumped in!

Auf dem See in Sri Lanka tummeln sich wenige Touristen. Aber viele Einheimische die dort Angeln, illegal Schnaps brennen oder auch Hochzeiten am Wasser feiern. Wenn die Menschen dort nur eine kleine Chance sehen, Geld zu verdienen, dann lassen sie sich was dafür einfallen. So wie dieser Singhalese, der einen schwimmenden Kiosk betreibt.
On the lake in Sri Lanka few tourists cavort. But there are many locals who fish there, distil liquor illegally or celebrate weddings on the water. If the people there see only a small chance to earn money, they will do something about it. Like this Sinhalese who runs a floating kiosk.

Spotted Hyena totally unfazed by our jeep, splashed around in the water ditch by the side of the road, before sitting contentedly in the water.
The coolest sunset on planet Earth...well it's certainly unique anyway 😄

These vases reminded me of the cooling towers of nuclear power plants.
A picture from the beginning of April, when the first pink blooms appeared on a bush nearby. Mostly the flowers survived the snow and extreme cold nights.
