Lots going on in this pic: While waiting for the new glass cooktop to be installed, I had to cook on a single-burner camping stove. You can see the new cooktop on the right, and the burner on the left.
Our old cooktop was the "electric coil" type and had been broken for 14 years. Just once during that 14 years, Lisa said that we should think about getting a new one. I said: "Hey! Quit nagging me about it!!" Sheesh, and they call me the high-maintenance one.

The cooktop was grimy and in disrepair, but since it didn't work and we had no instructions, we couldn't even heat some water. I tried lighting it with a match, as I do at home when the pilot light goes out, but it didn't work.

Before installing the vent hood, the electricians are adding canned lights to the bridge above the cooktop.
The cooktop was 30" and the customer chose a telescoping down-draft unit for ventilation. Meanwhile the ovens were only 28" wide. This meant we had to find a new home for the 30" warming drawer.
This picture shows the cooktop and shower stowed. With the shower stowed and given its proximity to the electrical outlet, we've found this to be a great location for the microwave oven and television.
When camping in pleasant weather, we usually leave the cooktop stowed also and use that space for a cutting board or for drying dishes since most of our cooking is done outdoors when the weather is nice.
