Today I wandered into radiology and they were preparing for a barium swallow study. Basically these are different food textures and consistencies (think applesauce vs. water) mixed with barium so that the food shows up on the video x-ray fluoroscope. Typically this study is done in patients who have difficulty swallowing due to stroke or recent neck surgery.

I usually don't go for such high contrast in my photos but this one not only made me use high contrast but also broke my photo posting queue. This one is fresh from last night.

Turin, Italy. Scafolding and billboards displayed in the central piazzas create unexpected contrasts.

uma lágrima que ficou

ficou em mim

e foi aqui

o desencontro

"Setúbal mais bonita" ?!

num muro velho da rotunda

contrastes de uma cidade

desencontros de uma vida

ficam as cores

de uma cidade

azul,

de um rio

verde,

de uma serra

areia cinza,

de uma saudade

de uma lonjura

de uma amargura

de uma lágrima.

guardada em mim

"Setúbal mais bonita" ???!!!

acredito sempre

na vida com cor

cores na vida

ou não estaria o cinza salpicado de verde,

a cor !

My photo meets the project goals because it uses texture to improve it. This photo is improved by texture because the smooth texture of the melting ice is contrasting the fluffy looking snow. To take this photo I went outside and saw some ice that was melting next to the snow. I noticed the contrast and decided to take a few shots at different angles. To edit the photograph I increased the contrast, and vibrance. I also increased the intensity of the white snow. I think I did well however the one thing I would change would be to get more of the snow in the shot to show more contrast in texture.

No, I am not wearing white leggings. This is the notorious two-tone tan I developed as I cycled through France. It shows off my milky-white English tan with my golden brown French tan.

The worst part is that the contrast got more exaggerated the longer I rode. To the point where my tan line is still clearly visible even now, 18 months on. Not even England's lack of sunlight has faded this contrast in skin-tones. I've joked that I should try riding naked, but cover my legs and arms to try and balance it out.

Flowers are exceptionally plentiful at Chautauqua (more to come later). I found the contrast of the blooms in this scene interesting.

These two houses are next door neighbours in Mudeford, near Christchurch in Dorset. The thatched "Chocolate Box" house contrasts on many levels with the modern building next door. Many of the older houses along this road are being updated to a perceived modern style.

In the background you can see Canary Wharf on Isle of Dogs.

1) Through working on this exercise, something I learned about composition is that it might not always entail what you planned it would. When I was looking around on street view I would see a cool building and plan for that to be the focal point but then see something else completely different and choose that instead.

2) One way in which I engaged in the process of looking closely at your world to find unexpected

photographic potential was when there was an important tourist-crowded site/monument/scenery, I looked around it, behind it, or across the street from it to try and find peculiar things. My intention in doing this was to maybe find someone's reaction to this attraction or something irrelevant that could be interpreted.

-As far as contrast goes, I liked how the colors of the flowers AND the colors of the buildings contrasted each other. I makes the picture seem so colorful and bright.

BLACK AND WHITE NUDE _ CHARCOAL AND ACRYLIC PAINTING

Lit only by the nearby campfire. It pretty much just came out of the camera like this, so I can't take too much credit. Just one of those happy accidents.
