Another for the 'Abstracts' challenge. This is actually the top of a City of Westminster bollard. The Westminster bollards are an odd, rectangular design, with these pyrimidical tops. As well as being an unusual view of an everyday object, I was struck by the way the light has revealed different textures on each face, depending on the angle and amount falling on each one.
A typical US yellow cab (a Ford Crown Victoria again) overtakes an ex-London Transport Metrobus at the tourist-trap Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco. The bus is one a substantial fleet of UK exiles now offering sightseeing tours around the city. It has lost its London identity, but I suspect it is from the BYX-V batch. It carries the name "York" on the front dash. Other ex-London Metrobuses in San Francisco carry the UK names of Liverpool, Newcastle, Leeds and somewhat strangely, Chesterfield.
Cameras through the ages :-)
One of my current Canon cameras and a photo on holiday in Jersey with my then camera.

Originals are in the first comment.

The contrast between rural and industry.
This view from Kings Seat Hill in Clackmannanshire over the rural golden pastures to the greyness of the industrial petro-chemical plants of Grangemouth.
The scene is split by the River Forth centred by the two upper Forth bridges , the 1936 Kincardine Bridge and the much more modern 2008 Clackmannanshire Bridge

I took this photo in the middle of nowhere on a road headed to Delhi. The contrast of the interior of the restaurant and the environment outside were polarizing. I just couldn't help but get a kick out of the drive thru....
the contrast between the outside and the inside (yes, I'm decadent, but I had only ONE! :-) rough vs. smooth.
I also challenge Ms. Hartog to post her own oyster. Her first. Worthy of a picture, I declare!

Another example of how IR photography can make a mundane or less than ideal scene look a little more surreal.
The days last bit of sunlight casts bands of shadows through the scene
This is a Doris Longwing (Laparus doris viridis). Photographed in the butterfly room at the Calgary Zoo Conservatory, August 23rd. It was an absolute Zoo at the Zoo that day - a last minute chance for kids before school starts!
Thanks to bayucca for the full ID name: Laparus doris viridis.
Interesting - can't save tags this morning. What's up, Flickr? OK, they suddenly appeared maybe an hour later, ha.
