Light painted birch tree. I think I'll be trying some different techniques now, as this is more like the results I'd hoped to achieve. I hope you liked the results of these experiments as much as I enjoyed taking them.

Today I went to the Magic Hat Brewery and filmed a little social media promo with Head Brewer Chris Rockwood and SEABA executive director Adam Brooks. It was fun but when I had to talk I was soooo nervous. I hope I did alright, guess we'll see when it's all edited together. I also got to take home a whole flat of my beer! And I found out it's gonna be for sale all over the country! Just wild.

Coronado, California - May 2007

This is part of the work I've done with the capoeira group "Capoeira Brasil San Diego" for the San Francisco Brazilian Embassy. They organized a photo contest for Brazilian photographers on the USA West Coast and this photo was one of the winners. It was in exhibition at the San Francisco Public Library in the last part of 2007.

The cooperation of Contra-Mestre Mindinho and all of his group was invaluable, and we spent the whole day shooting in Point Loma and Coronado.

This photo was the last one of the day, a 4x5 Kodak Ektachrome taken with a view camera and an AlienBees 800 strobo flash at camera right as auxiliary illumination. This photo was taken from the Coronado Municipal Golf Course, and at the exact time I pressed the shutter, the sprinkles went off.

Contra-Mestre Mindinho himself and Penelope Charmosa are the ones depicted in this photo.

Mister Sexy Legs

My brother's cat

The stargazer, Uranoscopus sulphureus, lies in the sand, waiting, and strikes out with its sticky tongue when a prey fish approaches too closely. Seen in Padre Burgos, Leyte, Philippines.

This shot was the winner of the "animal behavior" category in the photo contest at the International Coral Reef Symposium 2012 in Cairns, Australia.

I had wanted to shoot this car all show but it was continuously surrounded by people -- at least those times I was near the car. Towards the end of the show I caught the owner and asked if I might snap a few pics. He was enthusiastic about the idea but seemed far more interested in showing off his own pics all the while standing beside and in front of his car (in the picture). Then a couple of other people showed up and they had a party that revolved within the field of view of the car. Argh!

Finally, I was able to use the car to hide all three people while they discussed who knows what. You can almost see the head of one of the people ad obnoxia peeking out from behind the car.

Built for the AZLUG Vignette Contest... our first ever contest... and I won!

Inspired by the Isla de Muerta from Pirates of the Carribean and also my favorite LEGO Theme.

For such a small model, I had to put a lot of money into it, mainly to purchase the transparent 8x8 plate and some of the treasure.

Using this model as a basis, I will be building a large treasure cave diorama for display at the LEGO Brand Store window to the community.

This was built two months ago during the FBTB Shut Up and Build week. I just now got around to taking photos of it.

DENVER (Jan. 26) – Big air was back in a big way in downtown Denver Wednesday night as Rocco Van Straten of the Netherlands took giant leap after giant leap to win the Denver Big Air presented by Sprint at the LG Snowboard FIS World Cup. The event marked the first city-based World Cup big air event in the U.S., not to mention the first of its type in the center of Colorado's capital city. A crowd of over 14,000 was on hand in Denver's Civic Center Park for the night contest and a concert by One Republic.

"Energy [in the crowd] was totally there. I felt it in my toes to my head. Everyone was screaming. It was a special night tonight," Van Straten said, who picked up his first World Cup win after finishing four, just out of the medals, at the World Championships last week in Barcelona. "There were pretty big riders here. You have to be scared of everyone 'cause they are all learning new tricks, too."

A capacity crowd of eager spectators poured into Denver's Civic Park to see the snowboarders huck their best tricks off the 106-foot high scaffold in the Denver Big Air presented by Sprint. Van Straten did not disappoint, throwing a switch cab 9 in his first two runs, which was scored best out of two, and a backside double cork 10 on his third, which was added to his high score to put him atop the podium.

"The last jump was pretty big. The crowd was screaming and they love my name, so it was pretty sick. I was proud of myself that I landed the trick," Van Straten said.

Van Straten was joined on the podium by Canada's Zac Stone in second and Michael Macho of Austria in third.

"I was just hoping to make finals and I did that so I'm pretty stoked," Stone said. "It's an awesome event. There's tons of people in the crowd they were cheering really hard and the band was playing…it was cool."

U.S. rider Easton Gilman (Chisago City, MN) topped the list for the U.S., followed by Ian Thorley (Marquette, MI) in 11th. According to Thorley, who threw a switch double backside rodeo 9 on his first two hits, he was stoked about the Denver Big Air.
