Here is that westbound Union Pacific train coming off the Cima Subdivision at M.P. 158.9 and is about to head further west to Barstow. Led by UP 8320 and UP 5166 (F/F), the train is transporting domestic containers mostly made up of Pacer, EMP, and XPO. This freight most likely originated from Salt Lake City, as the railroad runs a few trains from Utah to California. Traffic may not be the heaviest and nowhere near what the BNSF Transcon sees daily, but the line is still important as it is one of the main connections between Utah and the Southland. Similar to BNSF's Needles Subdivision, trains running on this line also go through the Mojave Desert, the driest place in North America after leaving Las Vegas, about 175 miles away. Not only that, the stretch of track between Kelso and Cima sees some of the steepest grades (ca. 2.20 %) Union Pacific trains must climb throughout its journey across the country. Sightings are primarily container and intermodal but mixed and autorack trains can be observed as well.
For most people, the Mojave Desert conjures up images of a hot and barren land, but I enjoy being out in this arid region. Despite the occasional traffic, one can make up for it by chasing trains along the line, which offers excellent scenery. Next time I venture out in Nevada-California it would be worth checking out Afton Canyon and the Kelso Dunes.

These are all over town. I guess it doesn't make sense to ship them back South empty. They get used for all kinds of stuff.
After the Christchurch earthquake of 22 February 2011, the authorities found a wide range of uses for shipping containers: as barriers to protect houses, vehicles and pedestrians from falling rocks and debris; as supports for badly damaged buildings; as shelter spaces for workers in the CBD; as support structures for temporary sheds.
This truck and trailer desgin are closely based on the Lego Dragster Transporter 60151, but turned into a part of my post apocalyptic convoy, including a minigun in the container. The container is the same design as shown previously in my container village and could also be combined with this one.

Well after seeing Swag's Shipping Containers I really wanted to make some of my own, cause large shipping containers would make fantastic cover for Large Mecha.
BUT, there were a few things I wanted to do differently, mainly that i wanted them to interlock nicely to aid in stacking. I also changed things a touch so there 4 rows of the Grille bricks(compared to Swag's 3 rows) but they are still each the same height(5 bricks and 2 plates)
Something else I want to try and do is see if I can find a nice way of making a container thats holds a Mecha scale weapon and splits open to let a mecha grab it.
