Edward Young designed the First Bay Traditions building in 1922 and it was first used for co-op apartments. The first Russian vice consul was appointed in 1852. In 1933, a consulate opened on Divisadero and was moved several times before moving into this location in 1972. The Russians were known to bring vodka shots and Russian delicacies to the neighborhood block parties. Black smoke poured out of the chimney a day before of the U.S. deadline to close the consulate in 2017.
On November 10-12, Policy Chief Elena Augustine and Management Officer Somer Bessire-Briers travelled to the town of Exmouth in WA’s North West. Formerly a U.S. defense town, they met with U.S. Air Force personnel stationed at Learmonth Solar Observatory, toured Harold E. Holt Naval Communication Station, spoke with students at Central Regional TAFE, and also met with local government and business leaders. They were also privileged to attend the Shire of Exmouth’s Remembrance Day Service, which was also U.S. Veterans Day.
His Excellency Suhail Mohd Al Zarooni, Guinness World Record Holder & Chairman Al Zarooni Foundation paid a visit to Consulate of Thailand to offer condolence on the death of King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand. He was received by the Deputy Consulate General of Thailand and was escorted to the Office of His Excellency Unnop Buranasate, Consul General, The Royal Thai Consulate General at Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
