The official name of the new bridge is, The Governor Mario Cuomo Bridge. The new bridge was opened in 2017 and replaced the original Tappan Zee Bridge which had been built in 1955.
I had planned to visit Bray at least twice a year but I failed to maintain this schedule which is a pity but to be honest, with one exception, not much has changed since my last visit. The flood defence project is the exception because the is no doubting the fact that progress has been made since my last visit but considering that it started back in 2012 I am sure that many locals are less than impressed.
The River Dargle Flood Defence Scheme is one of the key capital investment projects by Wicklow County Council and the Office of Public Works (OPW) with an investment of €40 million.
Works on site have been ongoing since 2012. The main contractor was SIAC construction Ltd. who were on site for two years before the company went into examinership. The contract was terminated by agreement following conciliation resulting construction activities effectively being suspended since November 2013.
Wicklow County Council is now continuing the construction with Tom Foley Management Ltd taking on the role of Construction Management Service Provider and back in July 2014, works recommenced on the River Dargle Flood Defence Scheme.
To date a number of stages have been completed or are ongoing but unfortunately I do not have exact details. However, my photographs may give you some idea as to what has been accomplished to date

The Works consisted of the design and construction of flood defences, river widening and regrading along the lower reaches of the River Dargle. The works extended over approximately 3.3 km of the river from the N11 Bridge to the DART Harbour Bridge. The flood defences were required to provide protection against a 1 in 100 year fluvial flood and 1 in 200 year tidal flood. The Works also included the design and construction of 7mx4m culvert adjacent to Bray Bridge, the only vehicular bridge in Bray Town [I did not know that], to act as a fourth arch to the bridge.
The Scheme comprised of a variety of flood defences including construction of new sections of earth embankments, demolition and rebuilding of river walls with extensive stone and timber/timber-type facing, channel excavation and regrading, and river bank strengthening. A range of landscape treatments in and adjacent to the river are proposed to mitigate the impacts of the scheme on the local environment along the river corridor.

“The National Aeronautics and Space Administration six-million pound crawler-transporter, the vehicle that will carry Saturn V moon rockets to the launch pad on a specially built roadway, is shown during a demonstration run for space officials and the press at Launch Complex 39 of the Kennedy Space Center, Merritt Island, Fla. In the background is the Vertical Assembly Building where the 350-foot Saturn V and Apollo will be assembled and checked prior to the 3 mile trip to the launch pad. The crawler, one of the two being built for KSC by Marion Power Shovel Co., Marion, Ohio, will undergo extensive testing before it becomes operational next September.”
I don't know what that contraption is, but apparently it has been long overdue, and it's arrival means they might just finish this job before Xmas.

A brownfield 50-acre Channelside site where Tampa meets its satellite community of Ybor City, the initial Gasworx project proposed a new stadium for the Tampa Bay Rays MLB team. It is now going to be a mixed-use development, with apartments, restaurants and retail outlets - in fact, the usual stuff that developers promote these days. Only a marina is missing, the cherry on top of many a Sunshine State proposal. Darryl Shaw is the main promoter, being quoted in the Tampa Bay Times as “wanting to transform historic Ybor City from a place known primarily for drinking and debauchery to a fully walkable neighbourhood with all the amenities of a modern city.”
Gasworx construction is due for completion in late 2026. I hope Ybor City carries on with its drinking and debauchery.
In addition to an all new separate Emergency Entrance, the EMS area is being revamped, along with many improvements inside the emergency room wing of the hospital.
But for now, it's a big mess...

Some of the REM lines going over the Trans Canada highway in western Montreal. I believe the yellow plates are just decoration but I could be wrong.

With the addition of a state of the art new reception and emergency entrance under construction, MBTC is undergoing renovations a little bit at time.
You can't just shut down a Level 1 trauma center, in one of the fastest growing areas in the country, all at once, so it'll be a little hectic for awhile.

Capital Dock is one of the largest mixed-use developments ever built in Ireland and it was completed towards the end of 2018 but I was unable to gain access to the completed project until Easter weekend 2019. The compex spans 4.8 acres, providing more than 690,000sq ft of new mixed-use space, including offices, retail and family units, as well as more than 1.5 acres of public park space.
Global investment bank JP Morgan and jobs site Indeed have committed to occupy all of the available office space, and are preparing their new premises for occupancy in 2019.
Nearly 200 family units will be available to rent this year, with a dedicated on-site concierge, resident lounges, cinema, professional gym, business suites and a chef’s kitchen. There is also be a landscaped park and square open to the public.
The project will welcome new retailers in the coming year, including a restaurant and bar with a terrace, a gourmet grocer, and additional food and beverage offerings.
They're still putting the finishing touches on the exhibits, and technically it's not open to the public just yet, but if you tell 'em Phil sent you- I bet you could get the grand tour ahead of schedule.

"It's the type of sport that will get you addicted," stated Buford X. Bumcreep, a resident of Long Island who is a retired general contractor and one who spends his time following the championships. "It's one of the most action-packed contact sports I have ever seen," he told TYME magazine reports who are assigned to full-time coverage of the championships. "If I hadn't received free tickets to one of these events a few years ago by a dry-basement friend of mine, who knows where I would be today--probably sitting in some honky tonk crying in my beer," he continued. Buford admitted he had once been wrestling with alcoholism. "The last project kind of served as a red flag for me," he said, mentioning an office building he had constructed with two-extra floors because he had been too intoxicated to take time when he was reading the blueprints. "It was a medical complex," he said. "Talk about some ________-off doctors, they were not at all pleased." TYME hung on to his every word and asked him about the project, hoping to get a scoop on the concrete business. More to follow about Buford.

It's still a work in progress, but so far, Ronald Donald and the crew have eliminated the plumbing leaks and electrical problems in the mansion, which should keep code enforcement quiet.
More importantly, Crazy Old Mary shoudn't see anything new or notice any of her treasures out of place.

Passing the Lime Line-up on Intracoastal, holiday traffic isn't too bad down there.
Seems like there is no end in sight to that remodeling project over at the Green Turtle though.

The Victoria Memorial, located in Kolkata, India is a memorial of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom who also carried the title of Empress of India. It currently serves as a museum and a tourist attraction.
The memorial was designed by Sir William Emerson in an architectural style similar to Belfast City Hall. Earlier asked to design the building in the Italian Renaissance style, Emerson was against the exclusive use of European styles and used Indo-Saracenic style, incorporating Mughal elements in the structure. Vincent Esch was the superintending architect while Lord Redesdale and Sir David Prain designed the gardens. The work of construction was entrusted to Messrs Martin & Co. of Calcutta.
Built between 1906 and 1921, it is a majestic white marble building at the southern end of the Maidan and surrounded by a sprawling garden. A black bronze Angel of Victory, holding a bugle in her hand was placed at the apex of the dome above the Memorial. It is fixed to its pedestal with ball bearings and acts as a weathercock when the wind is strong enough. Mr. A. C. Mitra, Bengal Engineering and Science University-alumnus, was Engineer-in-Charge in the construction project of the Victoria.

It's well traveled during the winter by skiers and snowboarders and in the summer by hikers and photographers. SR 542/Mount Baker Highway between Nooksack River and the Artist Point gate will get a new surface in 2018 during this Northwest Washington resurfacing project.
Plans are underway to refurbish the dining area and add another level, which will serve as a banquet hall.
Pretty soon you'll be able to book the Turtle for your kid's birthday, wedding rehearsal, or to celebrate receiving your Certificate of Appreciation from the Arbor Day Foundation.

In Long Island City, Queens, on September 3rd, 2018, outside Building E (the "Annex Building" or "East Building") of LaGuardia Community College on the north side of 47th Avenue, opposite 31st Place.
The building was formerly the Equitable Bag Company, remodeled/converted by architects Warner, Burns, Toan & Lunde from 1989 to 1992 (dates according to page 61 of this document).
