Zerene Stacker 120 subs. Two speed lights - snoot to the right and reflector bowl with grid about 30 degrees off-axis to left. The shell is 2.25 inches in greatest dimension.

We found this beautiful shell several years ago in Myakka State Park, which consists mostly of a freshwater marsh. My semi-educated guess is that this is an Apple Snail shell. The Florida apple snail is 2-3 inches in size, consistent with this specimen of 2.25 inches. There are four exotic species that are highly invasive, and are now widespread throughout freshwater ecosystems in Florida. They were introduced in the 1980s through the aquarium trade.

One advantage of our consistently cool/cold spring (note the flat grey sky!) is the longevity of the daffodils and other spring flowers. The steep hill of Clayport Bank up and out of Alnwick town centre towards Rothbury has numerous large groups of them. Our home is on the other side of the stone wall towards the top of the image approx. level with the bus-stop.

Here you can see very clearly, as the tide slowly but consistently recaptured the country.

A flock of pigeons at sunset

Pigeons and doves constitute the family Columbidae within the order Columbiformes, which include some 300 species of near passerine birds. In general parlance the terms "dove" and "pigeon" are used somewhat interchangeably. In ornithological practice, there is a tendency for "dove" to be used for smaller species and "pigeon" for larger ones, but this is in no way consistently applied, and historically the common names for these birds involve a great deal of variation between the term "dove" and "pigeon." This family occurs worldwide, but the greatest variety is in the Indomalaya and Australasia ecozones. The doves and pigeons are called "squabs."

Doves and pigeons build relatively flimsy nests from sticks and other debris, which may be placed in trees, on ledges, or on the ground, depending on species. They lay one or two eggs, and both parents care for the babies, which leave the nest after 7 to 28 days. Doves feed on seeds, fruit and plants. Unlike most other birds, the doves and pigeons produce "crop milk," which is secreted by a sloughing of fluid-filled cells from the lining of the crop. Both male and female produce this highly nutritious substance to feed to the babies.

Questi sostengono arcate a tutto sesto.

Hearts and Minds by Ivoryline

www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_bnANIPyQk

My mind isn't quite sure

What it has bargained for.

But my heart is in time with

With the consistent beat.

This dream is sneaking up on me

No matter how collected I seem to be.

Is anybody ever truly complete?

Or are the better ones just better at believing?

So I'll go and say you're with me.

I know it's just the beginning.

At times I feel cold and exposed under a microscope

But it has never much better to live.

It doesn't matter if all my friends latch on to this.

There's only one acceptance that's not later dismissed.

Just go and say you're with me.

I know it's just the beginning.

My mind isn't quite sure

What it has bargained for.

But my heart is in time with,

With the consistent beat of yours.

I'm not looking to music to complete me.

I'm not looking for a new philosophy.

I'm not waiting for somebody to swoon me.

I'm just searching for a better way into your love.

Can you feel the only eyes that see inside?

Can you feel anything anymore?

“When fortune calls, offer her a chair”....Thanks Rita for your testimonial!

I want to take a moment and celebrate all my Flickr contacts as well - I chose to photograph a section of my kitchen chair (above) as a symbol of the friendship I have with most of you. The strands represent all of you, coming together to form a single point of strength and every day providing me with support and most of all encouragement. As with the chair, every strand counts - from the most timid but consistent "fave" (you know who you are) to the most flamboyant award giver (you know who you are too!). Please know that all this support combined has helped to up my quality and has stirred my imagination to a degree I never thought possible. We must learn to trust what we see and photograph it in the best possible way. Thank you and here's to quality, good fortune and honest opinions!

House Automotive and Alexander Bermudez Team Up for a Run at the Championship

Two emerging names in Porsche Club Racing are joining forces to create one winning team...House Automotive, an exclusive Porsche only Service Facility with a 5-Star Reputation and Alexander Bermudez, piloting a Porsche Boxster Spec (BSR). Alexander snatched second place, in the 2014 Porsche Owners Club Cup Championship.

Early on, Alexander showed great potential as an upcoming

driver by consistently finishing on the Podium, earning him the POC Most Improved Driver award in 2012. This year, Alexander made the leap to Cup racing, which not only includes a wheel to wheel element, the competition was also larger and mor intense. Drivers in the class had more experience than Alexander, which led him toward initiatives to keep an open-mind and focus on what makes a great fundamental driver, consistency and perseverance. As a result, Alexander Bermudez is now a contender for the Championship in his second season of POC Cup Racing. He also holds track records at Laguna Seca with NASA and the PCA track record at Auto Club Speedway as well as the POC Track record at Willow Springs International Speedway and Spring Mountain Motorsport Park.

The results and progression of Alexander’s racing led to House Automotive taking in interest in supporting Alexander’s march for a championship. Greg Hwang, President of House Automotive states, “Alex has a genuine passion for driving and House is excited to extend its reach to Porsche Clubs and anyone that shares the same passion for driving.”

House Automotive has become a solid name in the Greater Los Angeles region for Porsche owners to seek Service or Repairs for their Porsches. Like Alexander Bermudez, House has had great results and seen rapid growth. Clear evidence is displayed on multiple sites with 5-star ratings as the average across all media channels for their Superior Customer Service. This opportunity aligns with House’s future offerings and direction that include House Motorsports, a national parts supplier which is geared towards avid car enthusiasts seeking to increase the performance of their vehicles.

As of this announcement, House will partner with Alexander for the 2015 season. Alexander has shared great enthusiasm with the sponsorship by stating, “I am very excited to be a part of the House Automotive brand, it's really an honor to be associated with a business that takes so much pride in what they do. Together, I look forward to a successful 2015 season with the POC.”

Look for Alexander Bermudez in the Dark Blue Porsche Boxster with House Automotive Livery at all Porsche Owner’s Club races this season. You can watch the progress on Alexander’s fan page at Alexander Bermudez Automobilist and as well at House Automotive’ s Website, www.HouseAutoGroup.com .

Sunrise

Sunrise

Looks like morning in your eyes

But the clock's said 9:15 for hours

Sunrise

Sunrise

Couldn't tempt us if it tried

Cuz the afternoon's already come and gone

And I said

Oooo, oooo, oooo

Oooo, oooo, oooo

Oooo, oooo, oooo

To you

Surprise

Surprise

Couldn't find it in your eyes

But I'm sure it's written all over my face

Headed out to FCF with Lance and Rami, half hoping the gate will not be closed. Alas didnt get too lucky there. That gate added 4 unncessary miles to the hike in the not so awesome ice and slush. The consistent rain didnt help the situation at all. We were about 4 day late from prime, may look pretty and all but I got 3 word; cold, wet and miserable. Haha. Got to 2 miles before the trailhead, seeing the icy scene and i realized i had forgotten my spikes.. Opps. Stole one side of Rami's spike during the hike and when I got here, precariously slide around those slick ice to get to the edge for the selfie. :) Cold, wet and miserable but I guess it was still a pretty scene! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Probably one of the most consistent daylight jobs in Maine, POAY gets underway at CPF203 with MEC 7585 leading. Surely anything can happen, but I'm fairly sure the writing is on the wall in about 3 months when CSX will likely takeover this property. In the meantime, catch 'em while you can!

Also to note-- a few cuts of UP reefers hauling State of Maine Aroostook County potatoes to Washington State. 2022 off to a great start... who would have thought we'd see that traffic ply these rails once more.

As we walked around Johnson Lake, conditions were consistently calm with wonderful reflections begging to be photographed. And I just could not resist.

ENG: The Shell House on the Reichpietschufer in Berlin's Tiergarten district, a listed building, was built between 1930 and 1932 on what was then Königin-Augusta-Straße (from 1933 Tirpitzufer and from 1947 Reichpietschufer) for Hamburg-based Rhenania-Ossag mineral oil works AG (from 1947 German Shell AG) on the basis of a design by architect Emil Fahrenkamp. Since 2012, the second office of the Federal Ministry of Defence has been located in the Shell building as a tenant.

A special feature of the stylistic steel skeleton building and one of the most important office buildings of the Weimar Republic is its striking design. The vertical waveforms of different heights and a consistently horizontal division by window bands, which are also led over the external curves. The façade was bricked with gas concrete blocks and covered with slabs of Roman travertine from Tivoli. A technical innovation was to reduce the vibrations caused by road traffic; air slits were built under the sidewalks around the building to keep the vibrations away from the steel scaffolding.

I have been meaning to do more night photography, although it is quite difficult to shake off the blues and consistently attempt it. There are a lot of factors that need to work in one's favour such as clear skies, appropriate moon phase, an attractive point of interest and of course time. For me, all of this doesn't really come about as often as I would like. Hence, it is quite an accomplishment when this happens...

Broadway Tower is a folly on Broadway Hill, near the large village of Broadway, in the English county of Worcestershire, is the second-highest point of the Cotswolds. Near the tower is a memorial to the crew of an A.W.38 Whitley bomber that crashed there during a training mission in June 1943.

In the late 1950s, Broadway Tower monitored nuclear fallout in England; an underground Royal Observer Corps bunker was built 50 yards from the Tower. Manned continuously from 1961 and designated as a master post, the bunker was one of the last such Cold War bunkers constructed and, although officially stood down in 1991, the bunker is now one of the few remaining fully equipped facilities in England. - Source Wikipedia.

Not a great night for star trails, for multiple reasons - too much of light pollution emanating from the surrounding villages, constant clouds moving in from the horizon and lastly, any other composition would have simply made it difficult to cut out the ambient light. So I thought of making the Broadway Tower like a cannon aiming for the Polaris...

Although the aim was to make about 300 images, this was a result of only about 70 as the cloud cover became persistent for longer periods between clear skies even though BeeBs weather forecast stated as clear skies! Hence the outcome is far from good unfortunately...

Thanks for viewing and have a wonderful week ahead.

This guy has become quite the consistent visitor to my feeder. Last year I had a male visit and did get a shot that I posted, but the opportunity was a rare one. I have no idea if this is the same bird (Could their memories be that good and do they return to the same spot year after year?) Whatever the case although it can be extremely loud when announcing its arrive, almost piercing in fact, it is a very welcomed sight for me.

The limited express train, which takes 70 minutes to Shinjuku, may be designed to be consistent with the Dragon Palace station.

Please note that the passengers on the front sheets of the first car command a full view of the railway tracks and landscape as driver's space is squeezed into the ceiling.

Romancecar is so named as it adopts the "romance seat," which is a Japanglish word for the love seat that has no armrest between passengers. It serves Enoshima as well as Hakone that is a major mountain resort with hot springs. Romancecar is a registered trade mark of Odakyuu Electric Railway Co. Ltd.

Romancecar has been joked as the train for incognito trips.

This is the last photo of Kamakura.

Apparently due to the amount of spray the waterfall consistently produces, a rainbow is always visible on sunny days. I really want to go back as we really didn't have much time for photography on our trip and it really is a fascinating place! And its always been my dream to photograph an erupting volcano!

Had a big problem uploading images to the website but after an hour on the phone to someone today its sorted and i will definitely have the website open in the next few days.

And sorry i have been behind ive been concentrating on this website but will catch up now :)

The farmers consistently follow the weather but so often the weather reports use terms that can be correct and wrong at the same time!

With the temps consistently in the mid teens it was time to dig out the wool and restart the hobby I picked up during the 2020 lockdowns. Hope I get this little throw done before the temps start to climb.

1957 Oldsmobile Super 88 Holiday Hardtop.

Oldsmobile’s weren’t raced much by 1957 and didn’t need to be, having become consistently good-selling medium-priced cars known for innovation, as with the 1957 Oldsmobile Super 88. Even so, one Lee Petty and his son Richard drove Olds convertibles on the sands of Daytona and hardtops at other stock-car venues. And if a little heavy in street form, 1957 Olds could still be quite rapid with a new performance option called J-2. At 300 hp, it was enormous power in 1957.

Available on any model at just $83, the J-2 included a trio of two-barrel carburetors, plus higher compression and low-restriction air cleaner to take the 371 cid “Rocket” V8 from 277 stock hp to 300 ….good for 0-60 mph in under 8 seconds. There was also a racing setup with radical camshaft and heavy-duty internals, but at $385, it was seldom ordered. The J-2 added spice to an Olds lineup that didn’t look new but was. Basic appearance and even wheelbases stayed the course of 1954-1956, but bodies were two inches lower and longer, so styling was a bit more rakish. Olds turned 60 in in 1957 and celebrated by adding models, including a convertible to the base Golden Rocket 88 series to join a Super 88 and Starfire 98. Olds produced a total of 398,569 vehicles in the 1957 model year and of that built 40,914 Super 88 Holiday Sedans.

Thanx for Viewin, Favin, and Commentin on my Stream!

Excerpt from Wikipedia: Long Beach is the largest and longest beach in the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve on the west coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. It is located on Wickanninish Bay between Tofino (NW) and Ucluelet (SE) and is adjoined by campgrounds and picnic areas. The Tofino-Ucluelet highway parallels the entirety of the beach. The beaches' consistent surf, exposed to the open Pacific Ocean, established it as one of the earliest and most popular surfing locations in British Columbia.

Long Beach features rocky 'islands' in the mid-tidal zone of the beach that are accessible only at low tide; when the tide is high, these islands are either surrounded by water or thrashed by ocean swells. In addition, dangerous rip-currents exist around the larger islands, and to some extent in the open sea farther out.

There are consistently more Fox Sparrows at this location than I remember from past years. Also they don't seem as shy about being out in the open. Photographed at the Yakima Area Arboretum, Yakima, Washington. IMG_7090

Rainy day here in NE Texas but it doesn't stop the birds from getting out and about.

The Carolina chickadee was often placed in the genus Parus with most other tits, but mtDNA cytochrome b sequence data and morphology suggest that separating Poecile more adequately expresses these birds' relationships. The American Ornithologists' Union has been treating Poecile as distinct genus since 1998. Although it and the black-capped chickadee most likely diverged about 2.5 million years ago, the birds still hybridize in the areas where their ranges overlap. The offspring of mated pairs of hybrid chickadees suffer from lower hatching success, and a male bias sex ratio, consistent with Haldane's rule.

Les Niches Parties brightens up Augustijnenrei and consists of a series of shiny masks, adorned with coloured ribbons. The installation reflects the festive atmosphere Naveau experienced during her trip to Mexico, where coloured flags liven up the streets. It also refers to the communicative function of flags: as disseminators of a warning, message or ideology. In Bruges, she temporarily fills the niches by the water in a playful way with a masquerade that appeals to the imagination, a warm welcome for every passer-by.

During our four-day moosing excursion we consistently noted some pre-mating season activity that we hadn't witnessed before. Typically, in mid-August, bulls hang out in bachelor groups and cows are loners. But this year, the bulls and cows were grouped together and exhibiting some mild mating behavior.

We saw one group of three bulls and three cows hanging together, another group of two bulls and two cows and yet another group of four bulls and two cows. The bulls were doing a lot of butt sniffing and the cows were showing modest interest.

All of this was unusual for mid-August. My friend Amy even noticed it a week before when she was in the same area and also noted that it was quite unusual.

This side is consistent with our conclusions based on the north side. On this side the original roof looks warped and the eaves are missing. Who knows what happened to the top of the bay window.

The old TV antenna has fallen off the roof and is being held up by a tree.

===================

A "corona muralis" or walled crown is a Roman condecoration and latter a heraldic element of a lot of city coats-of-arms. Here they really crowned with walls this apse.

The Romanesque monastery of Sant Miquel de Fluvià is not very well known, but quite interesting. It was founded in 1045, although the church dates from 1066. It was a dependency of St. Miquel de Cuixà abbey, and towards the s. XVII, of St. Peter of Galligans abbey. It continued as a monastery until 1835.

The magnificent Romanesque church and bell tower are the main remains of the abbey, fortified much later, in the XV Century. As part of the fortification, a moat was dug around the church, splitting and destroying the Romanesque cloister. Currently, both the cloister and its destructive moat have been excavated and partially restored. The bell tower shows what appear to be impacts from siege projectiles at the top, so it does seem to have served as a fortification, perhaps during the Catalan Civil War.

Yep, another Cooper's hawk! That is at least two or three in a few days. I am feeling lucky! When Klaus & I spotted this one at Riverbend I did not know what it was at first, they are small hawks, but after seeing the eye, I thought to myself "jackpot!!" and was glad I got it.

I have about a month to go before I am heading up north for good, so I will try to get as much up before then, but will try to get lots of shots too. This one is for my friends Linda & Kevan, who consistently get some of the best hawk shots I have seen here or anywhere else!
