Wilfred Mwangi, Associate Director of CIMMYT's Global Maize Program and leader of the Drought Tolerant Maize for Africa (DTMA) project (left), with Bingu wa Mutharika, President of Malawi, at a reception in September 2009. CIMMYT presented Malawi with a special consignment of seed of drought-tolerant variety ZM 309 for distribution to farmers as part of the national farm input subsidy program.
ZM 309 was developed specifically for Malawi’s drought-prone areas with infertile soils, based on material from CIMMYT-Mexico, CIMMYT-Zimbabwe, and Malawi's national program, in a collaboration between CIMMYT, Malawi’s Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, and the Chitedze Research Station, through CIMMYT's Drought Tolerant Maize for Africa (DTMA) project. The research was supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Howard G. Buffett Foundation. The consignment was multiplied by collaborator SeedCo in Malawi.

President Cyril Ramaphosa and Deputy President David Mabuza who chairs the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Vaccines, receiving South Africa’s first consignment of COVID-19 vaccine from the Serum Institute of India (SII) at the Oliver Reginald Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg.
The SII has been licensed to produce a vaccine that has been developed by the multinational pharmaceutical and bio pharmaceutical company, AstraZeneca, in collaboration with the University of Oxford.
The aim of the vaccination programme is to achieve immunity across the population. The arrival of the first consignment will give effect to the rollout of the vaccination programme. The first phase of the vaccination programme will prioritise around 1.2 million frontline health workers.
Government is coordinating the vaccine programme through the committee chaired by Deputy President Mabuza, and it focuses on procurement, distribution, actual vaccination, monitoring, communication and mobilisation.
The President and Deputy President are joined by Minister of Health Dr Zweli Mkhize, Acting Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, High Commissioner of the Republic of India His Excellency Jaideep Sarkar and Dr Morena Makhoana, Chief Executive Officer of Biovac.[Photo:GCIS]
It's a Monday afternoon in January after a major snowfall, so the parking lot is empty, barren, and windswept, save for one car that probably belongs to whomever's working at Smarty Pants.
I think Labels is more or less the exact same kind of store as Winners, that is that it sells marked-down year-old name-brand fashions that were "remaindered" from more expensive stores. Sort of the "second-run theatre" of the clothing world.
And, as for Smarty Pants, what exactly is a "Children's Consignment" store anyway? Sounds kind of sinister.

A consignment of wheat seed samples being loaded for courier delivery to the USDA's National Center for Genetic Resources Preservation (NCGRP) at Fort Collins, Colorado, USA. Duplicates of the accessions in CIMMYT's germplasm bank are prepared and sent to partner banks as backups in case of disaster. This shipment, sent in December 2009, contained 76,756 accessions.

Back to Akihabara and went to the Akiba Cultures Zone. Packed with so many things I love and there even an entire floor dedicated to consignment sale cubicles for individual collectors to rid of their unwanted items. Another heaven on earth but then again no seats to rest during shopping!
