Amritsar (Inde) - En juin 1984, le Temple d'Or a été le théâtre d'un massacre dont les Shiks ont été les victimes. Occupé par un groupe d'indépendantistes sikhs sous les ordres de Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, après l'échec des négociations avec la Fédération indienne, l'assaut est ordonné par le premier ministre de l'époque : Indira Gandhi.
A l'issue de la bataille, on déplore 493 tués chez les mutins, dont 100 femmes et 75 enfants. Auxquels il faut ajouter les 86 blessés qui n'ont pas été exécutés. Les militaires indiens quant à eux, auraient perdu 334 hommes (86 morts et 248 blessés).
Le Temple d'Or souillé du sang des insurgés et profané par les bottes des assaillants, est considéré comme une insulte irréparable par les extrémistes sikhs. Cet attaque militaire appelée « Opération Blue star », ne pouvait rester impunie selon les Sikhs. Elle aura pour conséquence le 31 octobre de la même année, l'assassinat d'Indira Gandhi, abattue par ses deux gardes du corps sikhs.
Aujourd’hui, Sikhs et Hindous ont enterré la hache de guerre et évitent d’évoquer cet épisode tragique de leur récente histoire. La raison l'a emporté face aux ressentiments. Dans leur Temple sacré, les Sikhs accueillent de nouveau tous les visiteurs, offrant le gîte et le couvert à ceux qui en font la demande. Sans distinction de statut social ou de religion. Un principe à méditer.

Amritsar (India) - In June 1984, the Golden Temple was the scene of a massacre, of which the Shiks were the victims. In their sacred Temple, the Sikhs once again welcome all visitors, offering room and board to those who request it. Without distinction of social status or religion. A principle to ponder.

The hill on which the church stands was continuously excavated from the 15th century onwards, with the consequence that the church now stands on the edge of a near vertical slope.

With this photo of a wintry sunrise (without snow this time) near the town of Tisá in the Bohemian part of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, I wish you all a wonderful 4th Adent with a big load of Christmas atmosphere (even without snow).
At the same time, I wholeheartedly dedicate this photo to those of You who, for a variety of reasons, are unable to experience the Christmas season with full joy.
Be it because you work in a job that requires your commitment even during the holidays (and nights) or because personal challenges demand too much attention.
Or maybe you are in a phase of life where there are only a few people around you with whom you can share these moments.
Or are you currently confronted with health challenges that you or important people in your life are struggling with.
Not to forget those of you who have to fight the consequences of poverty, hunger, war and displacement every day.
I would like to send these rays of sunshine to all of you, which should penetrate the thicket and lighten the shadows a little.
I send you my thoughts, my love and the confidence that the light always finds a way.

Nicht zu vergessen die unter Euch, die tagtäglich im Kampf mit den Folgen von Armut, Hunger, Krieg und Vertreibung bestehen müssen.
Euch allen möchte ich diese Sonnenstrahlen senden, die das Dickicht durchdringen und die Schatten ein wenig aufhellen sollen.

A heavy fog this morning had Queens Casscade looking its sparkling best... and there was me with no tripod! Bugger.
Whirling Dervishes, Sema Seb-i Arus, The Wedding Day
Sema is part of the inspiration of Mevlana Celaleddin-i Rumi as well as of Turkish custom, history, beliefs and culture. It is what we do as a form of remembrance of God.
From a scientific viewpoint we witness that contemporary science definitely confirms that the fundamental condition of our existence is to revolve. There is no object, no being which does not revolve and the shared similarity among beings is the revolution of the electrons, protons and neutrons in the atoms, which constitute the structure of each of them. As a consequence of this similarity, everything revolves and man carries on his live, his very existence by means of the revolution in the atoms, structural stones of his body, by the revolution of his blood, by his coming from the earth and return to it, by his revolving with earth itself.
However, all of these are natural, unconscious revolutions. But man is the possessor of a mind and intelligence which distinguishes him from and makes him superior to other beings. Thus the "whirling dervish" or Semazen causes the mind to participate in the shared similarity and revolution of all other beings… Otherwise, the Sema ceremony represents a mystical journey of man's spiritual ascent through mind and love to "Perfect". Turning towards the truth, his growth through love, desert his ego, find the truth and arrive to the "Perfect", then he return from this spiritual journey as a man who reached maturity and a greater perfection, so as to love and to be of service to the whole of creation, to all creatures without discrimination of believes, races, classes and nations.

This photo was taken close to the tip of the Sheep's Head Peninsula in South West Ireland, which is a very narrow peninsula. As a consequence, you can get views both towards the south, where the Mizen Peninsula is situated, as well as to the north, with the mountains of the Beara Peninsula. Even more to the north lies the better-known Kerry Peninsula.
If I remember correctly, you can see Bantry Bay here, with Beara behind it.
🇫🇷 Depuis le lac de Côme , nous nous sommes élevés de 3000m....Sachant qu'en moyenne , la température diminue d'environ 6 degrés tous les 1000 m de dénivelée ,nous nous sommes couverts,en conséquence.....Mais finalement....avec la canicule de cette période de fin juin ,nous avons trop chaud.....allez hop...une couche en moins....!!!!

Aber schließlich... war es aufgrund der Hitzewelle Ende Juni uns zu warm... Also gut... eine Schicht weniger...!!!!

🇮🇹 Dal Lago di Como ci siamo innalzati di 3000 m... Sapendo che in media la temperatura diminuisce di circa 6 gradi ogni 1000 m di dislivello, ci siamo coperti di conseguenza... Ma alla fine... con l'ondata di caldo di fine giugno, abbiamo troppo caldo... via... una maglia in meno...!!!!

🇬🇧 From Lake Como, we climbed 3,000 metres....Knowing that, on average, the temperature drops by about 6 degrees for every 1,000 metres of elevation gain, we dressed accordingly..... But in the end... with the heatwave at the end of June, we were too hot... so off came a layer...!!!!

The Lily Family enjoys streaming Better Living In The Pacific Northwest. However, with the repeal of Net Neutrality, their internet provider has deemed shows of that nature not appropriate for lilies and no longer carry the show. The Lily Family obtained their concealed carry permits yesterday and plan a road trip to Washington D.C. in the near future.

"Since the outbreak of full-scale war in Ukraine in February of this year, the photographer Mykhaylo Palinchak (*1985) has been documenting his homeland’s destruction and the attendant impacts on those who live there. His pictures of apartment complex ruins, the dead and survivors, people on the run, and those who have remained provide an impactful impression of this war’s immediate consequences.
The ALBERTINA Museum is showing 40 recent war photographs by Palinchak, whose work has dealt repeatedly with incisive political developments in Ukraine, in juxtaposition with Goya’s Los Desastres de la Guerra. Just like Palinchak's photography, Goya’s early 19th-century depictions of war from the collection of the ALBERTINA document the universal brutality of wartime events and the suffering of the civilian populace.
The exhibition is on view from 24 May until 21 August 2022."
