Lunch @ Conowingo, Bald Eagle at Conowingo Dam. Just a little North of the Chesapeake Bay, on the lower Susquehanna River in Conowingo, Maryland, is the Conowingo Dam. In 1928, when the dam was complete, it was the second largest producer of electricity in the United States after Niagra Falls. The location is popular with photographers especially in late fall into Winter and especially when the dam is letting water through the turbines. The Eagles come to feed on fish below the spillways and create a lot of opportunity for photo enthusiasts. Not that I'm an Eagle expert but I did not expect the bird to sit in the water for what seemed like 10 or 15 seconds (maybe longer) and then take off!
I doubt the lunch delivery is for you. Conowingo Dam, MD, 11/23/13.
