A several hundred year old stone footbridge that crosses the Alzette river. It connects the Siechentor gate tower with the Eichertor gate tower. When Luxembourg was still a fortress, the bridge was part of the outer fortress wall and was equipped with embrasures.

Out there on your own on a stormy day, it's still pretty easy to stay connected - as this person seemed to be doing. For us over the last few weeks, it was more about some long overdue family time. Back home now, it will take a few days to catch up, but I look forward to seeing what my Flickr friends have been up to and re-connecting.

In EXPLORE 13 December 2021
This was taken on Friday 10 December. I had heard of this and the weather forecast looked good for a an excellent blue hour. The art installation is by British Artist Bruce Munro who is best known for immersive large-scale light-based installations inspired largely by his interest in shared human experience. Field of Blooms has been presented internationally, including at Uluru, Australia – the original source of inspiration for the Artist. The lights gradually change colour and the wires connecting the bulbs are also lit up. There are 1000 lights and they are displayed in the 600 year old Cloisters of Chichester Cathedral. They are free to view and are on display until 30 January
The picture was taken with a tripod with a Sony A77ii with a Sigma 10-20mm lens at 16mm. I took 3 shots for HDR processed in Photomatix using tone balancer for a more natural look. In Photoshop I used Topaz Clarity plugin for more detail and Topaz DeNoise..

Good morning everyone,
Few sights are as iconic in Africa as a male lion.
This handsome guy was photographed in the Maasai Mara in Kenya. The moment that eyes make contact with an animal is truly magical.
Lion populations across the continent have dropped about 90% as a result of poaching, habitat loss and human conflict.
Properly run ecotourism combined with strong legal protections can help ensure that future generations get to enjoy these amazing sightings.

Menai Suspension Bridge
Connecting Anglesey to the Mainland, an Historic landmark in Wales.
Opened in 1826, designed by Thomas Telford.
It was a marvel of Engineering, allowing tall ships to pass beneath, with its high roadway and significantly cut London-Holyhead travel times.

Eastward train No.50 headed for Waterloo on the ex-Illinois Central Chicago to Omaha main. Ackley was once the diamond crossing with the Minneapolis & St Louis Ry main line between Mason City and Marshalltown. Today the east west line is operated by the CN. The M&StL is abandoned to the north, while the connection track here in the foreground connects to the Iowa River RR shortline that goes to a small ethanol plant about nine miles south of Ackley.

One of my favorite back roads connects the little town of Dingle, Idaho with Bear Lake along the east side of the valley. It goes along the base of high rugged hills on the left side with a beautiful view across the valley on the right side, but the view disappears on a foggy winter day. The abandoned cabin seen through the fog in this photo is the last structure for several miles.
