Kiwicon 9 - the 9th edition of the New Zealand Hacker conference - took place in Wellington on 10 and 11 December 2015. It was a great conference with substance in content and entertainment.

I had gone to Birmingham shopping, but when I arrived and realised there was a protest march being held whilst the Conservative Party Conference was in town my trusty point and shoot came out, and the shopping trip suddenly became a lot more interesting. Personally, I think volleyball is the hardest sport to photograph. But I gave it a shot and tried to capture some of the scene at the Iowa Alliance Conference tournament, the first-ever volleyball championship for the new high school sports conference.
D1857 [Brush Type4] has failed at Preston and a hurriedly summonsed LMS Black 5 is already in charge for the slog north over the mountains. A symposium of footplate staff enjoying a little "schadenfreude" perhaps [?] for the unfortunate "Control Orders" crew !!!
There are plenty of opportunities for training at Cydcor conferences. They're a great opportunity for growth.

FerMUN: Model UN conference: Press Briefing at UN, Geneva, 8 January 2013.
ITU is proud to be hosting its first ever Model UN conference, which will take place at ITU headquarters in Geneva from 9-11 January 2013.
Model UN is a global UN programme for senior high school students that gives young people the chance to organize and participate in a simulated UN conference. Students choose a theme, research the topic, elect senior conference officials from among their number, organize their 3-day work programme, and agree on key resolutions.
The event is being hosted under by the Ferney Lycée International under the FerMUN banner.
Media and staff of UN agencies and NGOs are welcome to attend the FerMUN meetings, and the ITU is also very happy to set up interviews with students and organizers on demand. Photos and broadcast quality video are available on demand.

This is the Conference, an old-fashioned variation created by Brian Miller in 2008 at Death & Co in 2008. The story goes that a waitress asked Miller to make her something "stirred and boozy". He took one of the common principles of tiki drinks, the use of multiple rums in a single cocktail and extended that by using four different spirits: bourbon, rye, cognac and calvados (a french apple brandy).
Often times, several spirits together in one glass can make a drinks awkward and disjointed. In order to tie all these different spirits together, he employed the use of a mole bitters from Bittermens. This use of bitters binds these four spirits together to give the drink a distinctive holistic flavor. Naturally, the name reflects this meeting of these four spirits in one place.
0.5 oz rye whiskey
0.5 oz bourbon
0.5 oz cognac
0.5 oz calvados
1 tsp demerara syrup
2 dashes Angostura bitter
1 dash Bittermens Xocolatl Mole bitters
Combine all of the ingredients into a mixing glass. Add ice and stir until chilled. Strain into a rocks glass over a large ice cube. Garnish with a lemon twist and an orange twist.
