It appears that plants have more awareness than it seems. Trees can communicate and sometimes work to keep nearby stumps alive. These trees might be deep in conversation about their fallen friend.
Conference of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, Marshall Josef Stalin and Prime Minister Winston Churchill, November 28 to December 1, 1943, incl. Principals at the historic conference were in a smiling mood when this picture was taken at the Russian Embassy, Teheran, Iran.

I got to wander around town for a whole day with an empty head and open eyes - what a luxury. It's a compact city and very pedestrian friendly and the rain (mostly) held off.

POTSDAM
BERLIN
GERMANY
A page of world history was written at Schloss Cecilienhof in the summer of 1945. After the fighting in Europe ended, the three main allies of World War II met here to discuss the reorganization of the continent and of Germany's future. The outcomes of this conference, officially known as the "Berlin Conference", were defined in the Potsdam Accord and the Potsdam Declaration.

St. Swithin's Day is the 15 July. According to folklore if it rains on St. Swithin’s Day, it will rain for 40 days, but if it is fair, 40 days of fair weather will follow. The attendees at this conference will obviously be hoping for rain on the day!

Whilst up in Edinburgh for the day (25/04/2023) I stumbled across a display of buses at the Association of Local Bus Managers (ALBUM) Conference. ALBUM provides the opportunity to exchange best practice among its 130+ members and to influence policy for the promotion of high quality services that encourages more people to travel by bus.

A WW&F Track Inspector holds a brief conference with the crew of Locomotive #10 as their mixed train sits in the little yard at the flag stop in Alna Center, Maine. The train is destined for Sheepscot and eventually Wiscasset, some six and half miles down the line.
This image was captured during the August 2012 Annual Picnic event at the Wiscasset, Waterville & Farmington Railway Museum in Alna, ME. Depicted here are the museum's Model T-based Railcar RC4 and the 1904 Vulcan Forney #10. Although not an original Maine 2-footer, the #10 is an accurate representation of the class of locomotives that typically plied the narrow-gauge lines in Maine. Appearing in this photo are Museum Volunteers Dana Deering (engineman facing away), Jason Lamontagne (track inspector facing the camera) and J. B. Smith (brakeman on the coach platform in the background.)
Working in a psychiatric setting we sometimes need to use restraints. It is important to know how to use them properly.
Always fun to attend a conference with my wonderful co-workers and practice on each other.
A detail of a splendid modernist venue for the 'Thinking Africa' conference which I recently attended in Grahamstown at Rhodes University. The conference addressed interesting topics and challenges around the tendency to ignore or take little note of the African continents contribution to thought. Looking forward, the 'lead indicators' of economic development point to a potentially massive impact of sub-Saharan Africa;s contribution to global prosperity and human well-being. It seems somehow appropriate that much of this conference took place in an architecturally 'futuristic' building! Of course, none of this is to deny that enormous challenges lie ahead!
Amtrak First Class Conference Car 9800 brings up the rear of a charter train as it cruises away from Harrison Station. As the lettering across the rear suggests, the car is a converted Metroliner (originally Penn Central 863) one of two Metroliner snack bar coaches known to still exist - the other being 860 at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania. The special charter train was operated to bring the Philadelphia Flyers hockey team up to New York to face off against the Rangers - a game the visitors would win 8 - 5.
