The Ward House in Conference House Park, Staten Island, NY. The only Ward family home remaining on Ward’s Point today was built circa 1830. This house belonged to Caleb Ward’s granddaughter, Hannah, the wife of boatman Samuel Wood. In 1850, Wood sold the waterfront portion of his property to William H. Rutan, and later sold the house to Theodore Leven, a Swedish immigrant. The Leven family occupied the house for nearly sixty years.

St. Swithin's Day is the 15 July. According to folklore if it rains on St. Swithin’s Day, it will rain for 40 days, but if it is fair, 40 days of fair weather will follow. The attendees at this conference will obviously be hoping for rain on the day!
