"If it is on the wall is it art?"
I have been dying to shoot this segment of the series for a month now. As of late, I have had an intense interest in sculptures, they have such a quiet resonance about them. In this segment I hope to capture the silent allure of classical sculpture.
What do sculptures dream of in the never ending cycle of their stoic state?
The Beginning.
Unfortunately my favorite lens malfunctioned right before the shoot.
RIP 50mm
This picture is really personal and I had it in my mind for a while.
The model (which except from being pretty is also really good!) is Nadia, I didn't know Nadia personally before until we met to discuss the shoot so it was my first time shooting a model that I've never met before, my first 'official' collab I guess
Thank you Nadia for being a part of my work and being a good sport :)

"Run run lost boy, they say to me
Away from all of reality
Neverland is home to lost boys like me
And lost boys like me are free." -Ruth B.
Thank you so much Alex Currie for hopping into the water and braving the mindbogglingly large spiders that dwelled under there!
"It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves."
We all know struggle. There is always a struggle. Some seem to plague us forever and burn with intensity, others are subtle, yet so seemingly cruel. It is undeniably true that without struggle there is no progress and with every breathe that we breathe we find ourselves moving forward toward the future. While it may be that the future lies in the shadows it always comes the opportunity to change. We may not be able to change the wind, the seasons, or the circumstances of this life we must take personable responsibility to be our own guiding light and to reassure ourselves, Do Not Fear The Future!
This Image represents my own push, my struggle, my drive to be different, divergence!

Here come real stars to fill the upper skies,
And here on earth come emulating flies,
That though they never equal stars in size,
(And they were never really stars at heart)
Achieve at times a very star-like start.
Only, of course, they can't sustain the part.”
― Robert Frost
Tiny lights shimmer and speckle summer nights. Why do fireflies never sustain a consistent glow? They flicker to and fro. I wonder if we are all like fireflies, an incongruous brightening and diminishing light.
How can you keep the light?
But seriously, you should check out the blogpost for an editing process GIF and detail shots: aleahmichele.com/uncategorized/light-keeper/
I'm starting a new serie, about the 'light' we want to show to people. We want to look bright, at our best, always happy and beautiful, all the time, everywhere, especially on social media. But what if that bright light we show made people invisible, I mean with no personality, no contrast, no shapes. We try to be sunny, but when you get to know people, we discover that we are not as bright as we seems to be.
Hope you'll like it :-)

Within the spiral, it can be nearly impossible to see the beginning, end, or any other path. We make promises, and end up bound to a sense of obligation. Sometimes it adds to the art, sometimes it makes it nearly impossible to move forward.
(This was at a ConceptCollaboration.com meet up, and while I remember coming up with an idea to wrap the tulle fabric around the tree and drape it across the model in some way, I'm pretty sure someone else came up with wrapping it around the model and the tree. If I could remember who it was I would credit them!!)

"This is the home of the others. This is where they find their peace. So don't get in their way or else."
We as artists often are seen as the people that are not quite with it. However in reality we just see life on a different level. We find the truth in the darkness, the vastness of the little things, and the possible in the impossible.

This is my photo for this month's Concept Collaboration (Spiral)!
In this photo, I wanted to depict how my overflowing negative thoughts strangle me and ruin my aim on becoming more optimistic.
One negative thought and suddenly, I'm in a downward spiral.
Massive thanks to Mike for modeling!

Some times we are blinded by our past and haunted by the ghosts of our regrets.
These lyrics have always seemed powerful to me, the is always a new begining, second chances, hope, visions to keep us going.

This is my incredibly talented new friend Tom! Had an awesome time taking some photos of him at Akron Falls State Park when I attended David Talley's Concept Collaboration in Buffalo, NY. Tom is an amazing musician and such a natural model. So glad to have met him and now call him a friend. Can't wait for future adventures with my new friends from Concept Collaboration!

I took this photo from a moving bus, when going to NYC. It was sunset time and the glows were illuminating the skyscrapers of the beautiful city. I had to capture that.
I joined Concept Collaboration 2015. They launch a new theme each month and photographers from all around the world can submit their photos. You can look at their site here www.conceptcollaboration.com/
My submission for this month's Concept Collaboration! The challenge is to create a photograph that fits to each month's theme. January's theme is 'Catalyst of Light'
I was so excited to create that I went out in below-freezing temperatures to get this shot on New Years Day.
The model is my sister.
I have been wanting to create another new image that involved light bulbs. When I saw the Concept Collaboration theme for January, catalyst of light, it made my concept for light bulbs expand even further.
It also felt so great to shoot my first image of 2015. I haven't been able to get out and shoot in the beginning of January too much since I spent a good majority of it recovering. Now that I am all good to shoot and create my heart out again, I cannot wait to start getting to the whole list of ideas I have been gathering in my down time. I am also really excited to tackle the monthly theme for Concept Collaboration every month too.
Anyone elase taking part in the monthly theme? Happy creating! xx

Thinking of when we fall I thought of more of a child-like hope that is needed to keep getting back up and trying again despite how impossible something seems or how many times we fail. I wanted to represent this through a toy airplane with the subject clearly struggling in this torn down place (to further show how he is feeling) but despite all of that he is holding up the toy airplane. He is gathering his strength and preparing to keep trying- I wanted to show that in-between recovery period.

Caught in your absence
I guess by now I should know enough about loss to realize that you never really stop missing someone, you just learn to live around the huge gaping hole of their absence...

This could be our future.
With the rate of global warming and the continuation of humans destroying the world with pollution this could become the norm of our future.
This is a place in the mountain I went to, which was dormant volcano and I knew it had this place so I though of many concepts to do here but instead I went with this one. So I was FINALLY able to use my grandfather's old goggles+gas mask as a prop in a photo! Not a lot of editing here since the location itself is so surreal already!
So I violated the warning not to go IN the fence but it was ALL FOR THE SAKE OF ART! haha
I did not dare touch the water though, smoke coming out of mud on a tropical weather? I think not. But don't think I didn't want to, because I was REALLY tempted to, but safety comes first! And It smelled really bad though from all the sulfur, so I had to finish it quickly and before someone caught me.
For Concept Collaboration Theme: "THE WORLD OF THE OTHERS."
PS. I suddenly just thought about the movie "In a world.." and just remembered that line whenever they start the trailer sequence!

The series is called "Morning rituals the girl" and I got inspired by the theme "World of others" from Concept Collaboration.
Hope you guys love it as much as I do! :D
This is another one I did when we met Toby in London. Once I told you all about the storm that hit us there's no need to explain where the idea came from. hahah
I always wanted to do a tornado image but we never found the perfect location and throwing hair isn't the same thing as natural wind. I'm not sure about this sky but what really matters here is this crazy ginger hair <3 Thanks to my beautiful gf for always helping me even in this freezing wind <3
