Fenders are hard to stripe and I know my limits. There are so many reflections and "flash's' off the polished alloy. Bob moved around the shop to find the right light.

As he was striping he offered lots of suggestions that he thought would help me further my range as a budding striper.

I learned a lot just watching the master.

Much respect!

Camp Westerbork was known as the 'gateway of hell' during the Second World War. It was a transit camp to concentration camps such as Auschwitz and Sobibor. However, the camp was built in 1939 as a shelter for people who fled Germany before 1940.

From 1945 to 1949, Westerbork camp functioned as an internment camp for NSB, SS and other persons suspected of collaboration with the Nazis.

In 1949 the camp became a training camp for soldiers who were to leave for the Dutch East Indies for 'police actions'. On December 27, 1949, the transfer of sovereignty of the Dutch East Indies took place and many Indo-Dutch people were forced to leave for the Netherlands. Many of these returnees were housed in a number of camps, such as Westerbork camp. Westerbork was thereby renamed 'De Schattenberg'.

In 1951, Westerbork/Schattenberg camp was given its next function: a residence for several thousand Moluccans who were employed by the KNIL (Royal Dutch East Indies Army) from generation to generation. For security reasons, it was decided to also transfer them and their family members to the Netherlands for “temporary” housing, pending the establishment of the Republic of the Free Moluccas. They were also housed in camp Westerbork/de Schattenberg. In 1971 the camp was closed and the residents had to settle elsewhere in the Netherlands

This image of a Great Blue Heron was taken in Rockport in the same field with the Whooping Cranes. The heron was not as shy as the cranes so I didn't even have to crop this image.

If only the adversairy had the same weight in a wrestling fight ...

She watched a dripping tap that we set up for her as she was spending half her day in the bathroom basin catching drips , she couldn't seem to get to grip with the fact that if she puts her head under the tap to catch the drip she would get wet............

Its getting to be that magical time of year when the owls start to show themselves. here's hoping that this year brings you all many wild "stare downs".

One of my ideas for the "money can't buy" challenge for ODC. IMO, art work from my granddaughter is more valuable than any Renoir or Picasso...lol. I love her concentration...and surprisingly, even at barely 2 years old, she focuses on this for quite a while. And there are usually tears when it's time to put the crayons away.

Today seems to have been a very black and white day.

Each of the outlines on the ground on the right represents the foundation of one barrack. Wikipedia says there were 33 altogether.

Dachau was the first concentration camp established by the Nazi regime in 1933. It was situated in the medieval town of Dachau, near Munich (München) in the province of Bavaria (Bayern).

girl, black and white, circus, before submission

This is probably my favorite image in my concentration. I don't see many images shot through water droplets, so I wanted to try it. I had my sister sit inside the car and I sprayed water on the window. The straight out of camera version of this image versus the final version of this image are so drastically different and I love how I was able to change this image.
