I love how hard he is concentrating here. The tongue is sticking out. Now that he can roll over, that is all he does. I love this stage!

An Eastern Tiger Swallowtail (Papilio glaucus) was so intent on this particular area of the garden that she was almost indifferent to our presence. We played with her for almost an hour...to the amusement of those wandering through the gardens. (BTW, the blue tones in her wings indicate that she's a female.)

He's too advanced for me to help him technically, but likes to have me there for moral support when he's practicing. So to while away the time, I practiced using my 50mm with available light. I did get shots with his face more exposed, but I liked this one. I will fully admit to being totally emotionally attached to this shot. No impartial detachment here. And it bothers me not, if I'm the only one who likes it. ; - )
