Cluttered area that I want to fit all of the computers into.
18/365: A crash day, but I thought about how I wanted to reorganize the computer room a little bit.
The first centralized computer system at the Wisconsin State University-Eau Claire was in this room, the Data Processing Center, where the computing power was provided by large Burroughs mainframe computers. Burroughs was founded in 1886 as the American Arithmometer Company, and was one of the main competitors in the computer market during the 60's. This photo was taken in 1969.
Ever since the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire opened its doors in 1916 as the Eau Claire State Normal School, technology has played an important role in the education of generations of students. This album illustrates how technology has changed, from typewriters to computers, from records to reel-to-reel tape, and everything in between.

I tutor one-on-one computer usage classes at Lakes Regional Library as a volunteer. I'm called a Computer Coach, and this is my "classroom".
This is my Office / Computer Room / Editing Work Station. There is now a Mac hooked up via a KVM to this as well, not pictured, because who the hell cares about a mac, it barely gets used, because I CAN DO EVERYTHING IT CAN DO AND BETTER ON MY PC. Why did I get a Mac? I have no idea? Garbage is what they are.
These machines and devices provide me with wired and wireless network conectivty and also regulate my power, amongst other things.
This is me and my computer monitor. Only 2 year's to go before I finish my degree! (I'm studying as well as working full time, so my degree is taking me 4 years in total).
Those who know me will notice I am growing my fringe out. :-)

This is my now finished home built Z80 based computer in an earlier state. 32K RAM, 16K ROM, 4 MHz.
Yellow wires are address wires, red wires are data wires and black wires are miscellaneous.
I began building it in the beginning of 1990 as an evening activity with the local Young Scientists club. At the time of this photo It's almost finished, apart from the clock-circuit, programming and debugging. The only hardware it lacks is capacitors for the clocks and the IC's, and some wiring for the serial interface.
Update May 14 2011 - I found the block drawing for it and the design for the clock circuit so I now know what capacitor I need to make it tick. Yay!
Update June 2021 - Finally got it working after thoroughly checking all the wirings and getting inspiration from the vast resources of internet.
When a dell technician tells you to get a screwdriver and pry things apart, don't do it!!! As a result, I'm offline for a week while I'm traveling. Ok, so you shouldn't drop your laptop to begin with either. Thank goodness for public libraries with internet connections!! And the nice people at Darien PL who are letting me spend lots of time at a public computer.
1980 - The first computer used in classrooms. By 1984, there was an average of 1 computer per 92 students
