Heroes of the Pacific may be long in the tooth now, but it's a fun game that is available at budget prices. Here my Royal Navy Gannet (Hellcat) takes on a Japanese fighter over the Pacific.
The British did take part in the Pacific theatre to a less significant extent than our American allies. But we were there - and British Gannets played their part against the ferocious Kamikaze waves.

I don't know what's worse: the horribly skimpy outfit of the girls (although there were worse) at the cheap show at the razer stand or the fact that they seemed to attract so much audience. I like to imagine that all those people were probably just there for the giveaways...
Travelled into Harrow on Friday afternoon to purchase my reserved copy of Spore. Sky installed it on her MacBook Pro in the evening.

Games Lab was launched at Atrium on 30th June.
Budding games designers in Wales will have a new edge thanks to Gameslab Wales, a new Knowledge Transfer Centre at the University of Glamorgan, developed in partnership with the Welsh Government and the computer games industry.
After spending several evenings this week forcing myself to play CoD4 to try and improve, this was the result.
Luckily the wife is busy marking exam papers for school - it leaves me to hours of uninterrupted gaming!
The Sweet Spot philosophy *isn't* so much about finding a good spot for you - but knowing where the 'good spots' will be for the enemy.

This is a hand drawn map from the early 1980's based on one of the first computer games, Colossal Caves Adventure. The game is one of the original text based fantasy games. The player entered commands through the keyboard and the system responded with informational messages about location, items, events, enemies, and other things in the area. Instead of relying on someone else's images and video, the player is required to use their imagination to "see" the game.
I bet a lot of people bought Heroes of the Pacific for the PC based on screen shots like this - only to discover that it just doesn't look this good in-game. Oh dear!
Disclaimer: Don't ask me how this happened, but taking a screen shot in the 'Reply' mode improves the look of the game ten fold! It doesn't look as good as this during normal play! (IMHO)...If it did it would be an OK game, instead of a crap one!
Ghost Recon 'classic' - the first in the very successful Tom Clancy Ghost Recon computer game series. This is my all time favourite game and - believe it or not - I am just about (April 2009) to re-install it once again on my PC!
This was another game that kept us Apple Mac gamers very happy through some very thin gaming years...
The team training - of squad commander initiation - section of the newly released ArmA2 demo. To be honest this was one of the part in the training I found a little bit confusing - with so much to remember and layers of command control keys and menus to learn.
However, I am sure the real 'sim-heads' will love the level of detail and that has gone into making this game the ultimate in RTS/FPS cross-overs.

he only he knew what he'd be missing..

I doubt if there is any more satisfying weapon in any first person shooter than the flame-thrower in CoD: WaW (except maybe the cat-boomstick from Postal 2)!
