Even though I've been playing the game since yesterday at 3pm, today I was able to pick up my actual boxed copy of the Collector's Edition this morning. It was weird playing the game before having the boxed version, but thanks to the digital pre-order and automatic store credit when converting to the collector's edition, I decided to do it that way instead of my normal method of waiting for the boxed copy.

- Hey Kowenski blast that wheeler-droid before it damages my spacecraft... even though the simulations are on low stats in the training-program I am not Pinkeydot yet!

- Hey Burger, why are you always talking about Irena, do you have a crush on her, ha, ha, you are the only trainee who hasn´t been with her in the locker yet...

- Hey Kowenski shut your motormouth and shoot instead, I wish you could aim as well as you talk... and when it comes to Irena, I respect her, she is the best pilot, I don´t necessarily want to explore her landscape, she is just a damn good pilot, why are you always thinking of reproduction....

- ...both of you shot up and blast, remember the other trainees is watching this, Imagine how you would look if we failed this simple program on a low lever drone-army they would be on our back teasing us for ever... so shut off and shoot, even if it is training I am still your officer...

- Sure thing corporal Helgasdottir, but why Can you talk?

-That´s it Kowenski I will report you after this game...

- Oh yeah report me then for disobeying orders in an unlawful Game set, then you would get us all to do cleaning duty in the asteroid-field ...and you would get a one of those red dots next to your officer grades... would you want that?

...all the sudden a simulated voice breaks through the gaming environment... and instantly the game is put on pause

- This is Captain Gray! you are all bursted for playing a simulated low-level game waisting payed time and our base´s energy you are right about making trash duty but I think I will give you two weeks and in the lower levels of the capital instead of the asteroid field, the asteroids don´t look back at you with hatred and disgust like a poor Federation-hating Mutant trip-hone ganger would...

Lisa I won´t give you a red dot, you are a good leader Me an Irena respects you...

But not carry on fighting I want to see the end of this battle before I send the reprimand note to the colonel...but hey, I am gonna set the levels of the simu-bots up three nudges!

Welcome to the redux basic security door! And before you wonder, unfortunately the "Heavy Security Door" is still in early WIP development.

You might have noticed some peculiarities with this MOC, and proceeded to exclaim, "what the heck!" I totally understand, so let me explain: the 'decals' of white stripes and dots on the doors are illegal placeholders for decals for a real-life-build. As for the colors which don't actually exist--well--too bad! You are looking at the photostream of an *evil* genius, after all.

*Assuming those door stripes and dots were decals: both left and right doors slide open and into a wall cavity of my other MOCs in the "Evil Genius" series.

I hope you enjoy!

". . . but that is quite alright! We've got a broom and mop in ol' Janitor Bob's closet just down the corridor. It's too bad we had to incinerate him--dear oh dear... Anyway, once you've tidied up, you can start bringing in the furnerature! It's all the way in the heli-depot on the other side of the island, but new recruits are always happy for some adventurous excercise through the cyborg humanzee-infested jungle! Oh, and you'll have to assemble all the bunk beds and lockers by this time tomorrow morning, or else! Cheerio!"

Here's a reconstruction of the barracks wall-segment, included with a floor and a lovely sliding door! The first version (way back in the "Evil Genius" album) was too tall, and worse--it didn't leave for a big enough of a cavity for a door to slide into. Fixed!! (:

That shelving is one heckuva pitcher with a killer curveball: the upper row of shelves is merely "pinched in" by the other bricks, and it still isn't clear if it will work in inside/outside corners. The foundation and dirt are for dramatic effect. It's pretty dramatic.

So guys, help! What shall we name our new recruit? If he's going to be one of our minions, we must give him a new name to boost his loyalty to our cause!

This is my contribution to the Ripley's Unconventional Art Contest (see www.deviantart.com/go/journal/Ripley-s-Unconventional-Art...). Due to the tight deadline, I used a virtual background scene created for an earlier picture, but combined it with a new model scene. The background scene is a compilation of several edited screenshots of the computer game 'Homefront: The Revolution'. The original screenshots were provided by in-game photographer Xanvast (www.flickr.com/photos/xanvast).

There are two aspects that make this picture unique in the sense of this contest:

The combination of 1950/60s train models with a dystopian near-future environment creates kind of a weird atmosphere. When looking at this picture, while everythings looks quite realistic, something is obviously completely wrong. The atmosphere is somehow disturbing. Due to the hidden time gap it looks as if the entire scene has fallen out of time. Can this really be true? Believe it or not!

From the technical point of view, the mixed-media approach of combining a physical model scene with a virtual environment is a quite unconventional art technique. I applied this technique in many of my pictures. It differs both from usual digital art and from traditional diorama modelling art. So, it brings two worlds together.

How many times we have been asked not to take pictures in the public places?

I do believe the golden age of street photography for masters like Cartier Bresson are gone forever.

The people nowadays and the laws in modern societies and big cities are less tolerant of candid shots and street photography.

I like candid shots. Once you communicate with the persons by anyway, you won't get the same expression or moment again.
