I had to share this photo. I had the idea to try copper gas tubing as a radiator. I didn't want to go through the trouble of making it look pretty until I knew that it worked. I purchased about 20 feet of small copper tubing from a local hardware store. I used a small 15 watt submerged aquarium pump to move the oil through the tubing and back into the aquarium. It helped, but only very slightly. The copper tubing became quite hot when the computer was under load. In the end, it was not effective enough and the 3/8" diameter of the tubing proved to be too narrow.
Here's a project I'm working on. It's an air filter hooked up to my main computer. The hope is to keep the temperature down and the components clean.
This is still in the test faze. As you can see I have tape to hold the pipe in place on the filter and a cardboard panel on the tower with the air port connection. Inside there are four fans, 120mm in the power supply and on the hard drives and 80mm on the CPU, ram and motherboard CPU.
If all works out as planned I will change the cardboard to a clear plastic to monitor the workings inside and attach the pipe fitting securely.
Any feedback is welcomed.
No longer running on asus, but I still love it. Update: I have an asus motherboard again... this one sucks, it overheats.
My old computer's heat sink and fan are completely clogged after running continuously for several years. Did I mention that I own cats?
