Here's GuoBao, the only person recognized by Apple to work on Macs anywhere around here, slaving over my MacBook last night till the wee hours. Several layers of problems cascaded while replacing the CD burner but all are ok now. Functioning even more freely since he brought along an airport wireless device in case I wanted it. I'd never thought about that before - but, why not?
Cat fans may want to know about the most difficult of the problems, since it was caused by cats, officially a CATastrophe. When it was necessary for me to produce the password for my broad band account I opened the desk drawer for the important papers file and found the drawer contained a lot of water. Quite a few of the papers had sort of dissolved, taking information, including the password, with them. I tried to blame the water on the rain, though that was unlikely. This morning I woke up remembering a week or more ago when I came home to find a pitcher full of flowers tipped over on the desk by some cat activity. Water was all over floor and I cleaned it up. I never thought to check the desk drawer! So a trip to the telecommunications office with my passport, receipts which had not dissolved this morning so I could create a new password. Cats! Computers! What would I do without them?

My new computer case arrived today. It is a Gigabyte Aurora 3D (black), as shown here. I've put a 600ml bottle of water next to the box for scale. Jac is both impressed and dismayed by the size of the box. Expect more photos when the building takes place this long weekend!
pdp-11's. Apparently these were not called "computers" which would have forced buyers into a long procurement process. So they were called "Programmable Data Processors" or pdp's.

Martin Leung, the more or less famous video game pianist, entertained the crowd in West Hall, E3's console area. It was in fact a bit weird listening to his waves of 8-bit nostalgia with the slick corporate giants right next door.
