HISTORY

Pillar completed 17th May 1957 costing £38.5s.3d. Computed as secondary triangulation station NN96/23 within the Pitlochry secondary block during 1959. Flush bracket S9395 was levelled to first class precision, tertiary standards in August 1960. This pillar station was last maintained by the Ordnance Survey in July 1977.

SITE VISIT

Bagged in conjuction with Tuliemet Hill, good free public parking at Enochdhu off the SW side of the A924. Approached from the southwest where the old wall crosses the track. Using 1:25K mapping, followed the boundary wall ENE to just beyond the bend then followed the line of the old boundary fence north which became a serious branch fight over older rotting downtakings for most of the way. The pillar is in good condition. The spider retains its original OS centre cap with raised large narrow letters. The flush bracket faces southwest, compass measurement 243°. The intermitent 360° view and is interrupted in several places by growing conifers. Descended via the north then ENE trying to follow the course of the mapped path which is now lost to the windthrow from hell. Had to backtrack on several occasions before eventually finding an unmapped path much further east at NO_05460_62087. This eventually led back to the mapped track network at NO056622.
