Happy Tree Tuesday! I hope this iconic tree will survive many, many years. The crumbling cliffs have been shored up with rock walls, and I suspect the root system has been compromised. But the Lone Cypress has been a feature of the 17 Mile Drive for decades.
Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for your kind comments, awards and faves -- I appreciate them all. Take care and stay safe!

A male Marsh Harrier brings branches for its nest. Marsh Harriers nest on the ground in long vegetation like reed beds. Interestingly, some males support one to three females, although this often compromises breeding success.

During our stay in Northern Norway we tried to make the most of the 2 hours of near daylight, which on top is being compromised by weather and this can mean that you see no daylight at all if it's snowing or storming. But this day was a perfect one with a cold brightness that highlighted the unapproachable beauty of the North.
The Barred caught three mice on this rainy afternoon either it is a very skilled hunter or there are a lot of mice in the forest. I used ISO 5600, shutter speed 1/1600sec, f/5.6 at 500mm a compromise to keep my shutter speed up. More photos on my website www.melanieleesonphotography.com/Recent-Photos/March-2021/
If you read my post yesterday (arguably which I prob should have posted below this photo) you will know this shot at the beach at Dunstanburgh was not my plan for sunrise. But with the tide covering my foreground as it was a supper high tide at the Jigsaw rocks I replanned and rushed round to the Beach at Dunstanburgh. When I got there the sun had literally just risen and I missed that magical pre rise light by a few mins... so exposure of the low sun became difficult to control!
This was a scramble shot...having to work fast to catch the colour and the first composition that grabbed my interest on the beach... I liked how the incoming tide made an S curve lead in line because of a stream outlet on the beach.
I guess as only my third trip to Northumberland for photography it was very much a learning about locations day... I did get some nice shots... Id been hopping for moody grey skies through the day which are always good for seascapes... but instead I got blue sky which made for a tricky days photography... but I took a lot away from the day and will make my future visits all the more measured and prepared!
Today's sunset at Coney Island. The beach was relatively deserted for the seasonably coldness and strong wind, which all work to my advantage.

Alex Pangman at her first performance in public this year. She had two lung transplants, so she is immune compromised and careful to stay healthy. She is a radio host at JazzFM and had mostly on-line concerts during the lockdowns and most of the last few years. It's a miracle that she is still singing. Last time I've seen her was in June 2022 (photo in my gallery). Her voice is unchanged even in comparison, when she had her own lungs in her 20's. It was really great to hear Alex Pangman performing live in public, and she was trilled too. The concert was billed as Kevin Ray Clark and friends and the New Orleans based trumpeter has fortunately excellent musician friends in Toronto. The whole weekend was full of great music in the old Gooderham Distillery, which became tourist attraction 20 years ago. It did not attract many Torononians in the last decade or so; let's hope this programming is a change for the better.

Alex Pangman performs a previously unrecorded & unpublished song written by singing legend Connee Boswell in the 1940s. This was finally recorded by Pangman in August 2019 in Toronto Canada with Drew Jurecka violin, & Nathan Hiltz guitar.

I loved the background in this one. The foreground element required compromises (overlapping branches) and I had to move away from the square.
How can it be permissible
She compromise my principle, yeah yeah
That kind of love is mythical
She's anything but typical
She's a craze you'd endorse, she's a powerful force
You're obliged to conform when there's no other course
She used to look good to me, but now I find her
Simply irresistible, Simply irresistible
Her loving is so powerful, huh
It's simply unavoidable
The trend is irreversible
The woman is invincible
She's a natural law, and she leaves me in awe
She deserves the applause, I surrender because
She used to look good to me, but now I find her
Simply irresistible, Simply irresistible
Simply irresistible (She's so fine, there's no tellin' where the money went)
Simply irresistible (She's all mine, there's no other way to go)
She's unavoidable, I'm backed against the wall
She gives me feelings like I never felt before
I'm breaking promises, she's breaking every law
She used to look good to me, but now I find her
Simply irresistible . She's so fine, there's no tellin' where the money went
Simply irresistible She's all mine, there's no other way to go
Her methods are inscrutable
The proof is irrefutable, ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
She's so completely kissable, huh
Our lives are indivisible
She's a craze you'd endorse, she's a powerful force
You're obliged to conform when there's no other course
She used to look good to me, but now I find her
Simply irresistible (She's so fine, there's no tellin' where the money went)

Sunrise is still a difficult time for me to get up, so I compromised and slept halfway through the evening, woke at 1 and began planning for my sunrise shoot. I expected some partially cloud skies, and decent light. Originally I was going to head towards a lake, setup and catch the sun as it splashed some color over the water. It wasn't to be though I saw the signs as I left my house at 5 in the morning [latter than I had originally intended too] low lying fog all around. Plans changed, evolved. I knew exactly where to go. Up to Looking Glass Rock I went with my traveling partner, and here is the result. Once again the sky is somewhat cloudless, but with the partial thermal inversion in effect, it takes this already stunning view to a new level.

Squirrel baffles are awesome as long as your bird feeders are not compromised from the air :)
I did manage to plant all forty milkweed plants yesterday, even with all of the distractions that were flitting about. However, I did not trim a single thing. Today, I shall begin with the firebush that is located just outside the living room window. I knew those branches were getting a little long and the little mischievous acrobatic entertainers would discover that the swing feeder was no longer out of reach. Still, it is quite a jump followed by a balancing act to get to the feeder. This little guy deserved his bounty.

The squall on the right of the frame was rapidly approaching the moorland plateau where i was hiking. We had some strong winds on Exmoor today, so i had to work fast to find a composition and take a couple of shots before the rain hit. Had to compromise on ISO and aperture in these conditions but had something to show for the soggy trip! (f/6.3, 24 mm, 1/60th sec at ISO 160).

However my concentration was shattered by a number of golf balls coming my way. The dragonflies just had to be near the 5th hole on the local golf course !! Even when I retired across a service road 10m from the green, an elderly gentleman shanked one perfectly between two palms & down the road just in front of me.

When forming a shoal, Rudd tend to stick with Rudd of similar appearance and age, helping to reduce the chances of what's known as the 'oddity effect' compromising the safety of the group. The oddity effect is when a Rudd in a shoal stands out, possibly due to its size or colour difference.

We must find a way to live in harmony and look after our wildlife and environment. If we are unable to it will be too late.
Love is the answer, not hate! If we sit down together, listen and compromise we can find solutions!

Tonight was my first attempt at light painting. I wanted to bring more of the foregorund detail to the image without compromising the image the noise of having my ISO up too high. The green glow of the northern lights combined with the lit up green grass reminded me of emeralds.
"I know I can't kiss you," he whispered. His voice was so soft in the warm evening and his touch was even softer as he reached for her hand.
She stared up at him through her lashes, not even sure what to say. The moment felt nearly sacred and she had never wanted anything more than his kiss. "I suppose you're right."
As she studied the ground, he curled a finger under her chin and tilted her face up to meet his gaze. "How about a compromise?" With that, he brought her hand to her lips and pressed it over them, and leaned in, kissing her through her hand.
It takes no compromise to give people their rights...it takes no money to respect the individual. It takes no political deal to give people freedom. It takes no survey to remove repression. Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one's definition of your life; define yourself.

*Working Towards a Better World
Let's come together and sit at the table and work out our differences. In the long run we all have the same goal, to live happily in peace. The only way to attain that life is by compromising and finding better ways to exist together, help one another, be tolerant, understanding, compassionate, share and peacefully work out our differences. We owe this, in a huge way to our children and, if we don't get it right they will suffer desperately. So let's make a large communal effort to get it right!
Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Old, old apple tree on the farm. I await these blooms every year and it is such a sight once they emerge. One of my favorite things in nature.
Bittersweet though: I am allergic to both these trees, and bees as well. Luckily nooowhere near deathly or that sort of compromising, so I just try to appreciate them the best I can. I wait for them all winter!

The nice bright day had me and Olymp at odds. Me, I wanted the wider view, Olymp the narrower. So here's a compromise. Olymp wins with the main shot of a wonderfully Orange Ladybird, one of many Coccinellidae, on Joint Vetch. But my inset of a wonderfully blue sea is pretty as well. That's Gunung Agung on Bali in the distance across Wallace's Line. First sighting of it in more than ten days of rather rainy weather. Both photos were taken on Tanjung Mangsit, Lombok.
