Tiger Leaping Gorge
Yunnan, China
This section of the gorge is known as the middle gorge. To understand the power of the water here, imagine that the yangtze river, some 100s of metres wide in sections,is compressed into a 20-30m canyon and the resulting flow of water that results from that bottle neck. Safety wasn't particularly a priority for locals here but this is as close as I would get to the raging waters in the late afternoon. Its a tough steep few kilometers down to this location and the route up can either be walked the same way, carried by locals ,or up the so called sky ladder. We walked it back up.
Frustratingly, just as i got back into Clifton from Sunday's epic walk with Carpet the battery on teh camera died. I was most sulky. There seemed to be so many lost oppertunities. I couldnt even get a shot I really wanted by rubbing the battery and licking teh contacts. I have no idea if that would have made the blindest bit of difference but i was deserate. No sign of such pleasant conditions for the weekends for teh forseeable future either :(

Intro for Compressed, my upcoming series of choreographed time-lapse shorts that explore the beauty of the forces of nature that surround us.
For this time compressed intro, I printed the name of the series on a sheet of paper. 'Instant Snow' was then sprinkled onto the paper. The paper was then slowly immersed in water. The result of the water coming in contact with the paper and instant snow was recorded with photographs shot at 1 second intervals with a DSLR.
Shot using custom home-made intervalometer. I used Ableton Live to create the music and After Effects for editing.

It is obvious for a proper sissy slut as I am to take a welcoming pose to show that she is eager to be fu.., let's say mounted on a big and strong member.
Taken from right-to-left, as I was sitting on the north side of the train, headed west.
I really like what happened when I set the camera on my phone to 'panorama' and then held it stationary against the window of the train: (from an email I wrote) "The camera accrues the image unevenly: it's looking for motion but its internal gyroscope ("accelerometer") is confused. If things aren't changing much in the foreground, the picture 'piles up' and the horizon stutters, but water or trees close-by trigger a richer capture
This was just after sunrise. Fall colours here, and lots of standing water."
Not quite everything in one spot, but pretty representative. Photo walk with my niece in the relatively early morning
Thanks to all of you who drop by to look, comment and fave!

No history or information for this Compressed Air Locomotive. These types of locomotives were used in underground mining to pull ore cars to the ore passes.

Cyclamen persicum Mill.
