I've been cutting back the ivy in my garden and relocated the composter. The Robin is pondering whether he should dive in.
Why Are Vegetables Popping Up in Compost?
The simple answer to “why are vegetables popping up in compost” is because you are composting seeds, or rather not composting them. You either belong to the lazy group of people, such as myself, and just toss everything into your compost, or your compost is not super heating to a high enough temperature that will deter the seeds sprouting in compost.

As a rule, in my house, no biogically degradable substances are allowed to be thrown out. I had each twig and leaf trimmed off all the large branches and composted into the soil of my sideyard.
I mashed about in the back yard & woods, then decided to turn the big compost pile. Added stuff from to small bins. Inner core steaming! Wow!
I didn't turn my compost at all last winter and it froze. I'm gonna keep turning this winter to have garden compost early spring :)
Really something to see what looks like a pile of snow, is actually food & leaf waste breaking down to essential elements, high nutrient dirt.

Hit the compost jackpot and was given 5 organic sheep fleece, just perfect for the compost.(I am determined to fill the giant bin with beautiful rich compost this year).Because we try to stick to organic methods we have to be careful not to use animal products that have been wormed or sprayed with chemicals ,lucky to have like minded horsey people and a shearer about. If you use sheep wool you must be careful to soak it in water and pull it apart so water can get through the layers.
