Testing out some HDR photography for a change. I am mainly focusing on composition. I love the way the tree flows across the two doors from the right, and how the black car on the left brings the photograph more centre. I have enhanced this photo using the HDR technique but not overpowered the image to make it look unrealistic alternatively I have sharpened the photo and increased the density of the highly coloured areas to make the image stand out and all around more effective for the viewer.
This Maple tree was covered in a blanket of moss and fern plants called "epiphytes". These organisms, (the plants and their host tree) are working together, living in harmony in the same space. The epiphytes draw moisture from the air and live separately, together with their host tree. This made me think of community and the dynamic between the plants that are present within it. From my understanding of our conversation today (10/20), composition is about the species themselves, both present and absent. In a single "snapshot," what can be said about the plant community?

Is she centered in the frame? You decide. This photo, submitted for a grade in the photography class I am taking, was declared to be so compositionally bad (i.e. subject was said to be centered) that I might as well admit it is the photographic equivalent of writing a poem in which one rhymes "moon," "June," and "spoon." Hmmmmm. Should I send this one to the Flickr group "Worst of the Worst"? Please comment.

Jolie composition de surfinias chez un voisin. (Avant je mettais moi aussi des jardinières avec des surfinias, mais à chaque orage ils devenaient trop lourds et tombaient des fenêtres)
Prette surfinia composition at a neighbour's. (In the past I had surfinias myself but every time that got wet they became too heavy and fell off the window)
Asymmetric composition.
--Devil in middle, across spine of book, balanced by men otherwise oriented:
-----back of man on back cover,
-----man upside-down on front cover.
----the man on the back is higher on the page, head up, contrasting to man head down, trunk on lower half of pae.
---There's more white space on the left/back side--the front of the book really is heavier due to more antlers, more details (man's face, more of devil's body, Does that work because the front of a book is in some sense more important, will be more seen?
