I964 in Minot, North Dakota. I like Mike's jack-o-lantern smile (and my shirt). The photo is a little out of focus but I included it because it shows the contrast between us. Mike was lily white white straight brown hair. I had had curly black hair and had the darkest complexion in the family. Jack and Dad we light whereas Mom and Sherman were olive - but I was the darkest and would turn really dark in the sun.

This claim, 'Good for your complexion', from 1920s advertising for Robertson's Silver Shred Lemon Marmalade might not be supported today! The jigsaw was bought in 2013.
The brand logo was a gollywog, and I remember the little brass enamel badges you could get with affection. Here's what the company says today:

A castell is a human tower built traditionally in festivals at many locations within Catalonia. At these festivals, several colles castelleres or teams often succeed in building and sustain a tower's structure for a certain length of time.
Origin
The tradition of building human towers originated in Valls, near the city of Tarragona, in the southern part of Catalonia towards the end of the 18th century. Later it developed a following in other regions of Catalonia and even Majorca, and currently has become very popular in parts of Spain. However, the best and most skilled castellers are still found near Tarragona.

Saturday is the last day I'll be seeing/assisting my good friend Sarah Ann Loreth Photography before she heads out on the open road for a few months for her cross country photo workshop, The Wild Ones, but also because she's moving to the west coast. Now, I've known Sarah a long time. Hell, I've known her for over a decade as we went to high school together. She's let me assist her on shoots and has been a wealth of inspirational knowledge and just darn good advice. Been trying to figure out a way to say thanks for all she's done. In a way, the answer was right in front of me: a photo, specifically a freelense portrait as she taught me how to freelense (nothing more terrifying than freelensing a 50mm f/1.2 let me tell ya xD). So Sarah, know that I'm truly thankful for what you've taught me, inspired me, and pushed me to do more of in my life. Don't think either of us in high school would have thought we'd end up doing photography, but hey, life is funny like that.
