All of my finished art journals, 2008-2012, 21 (!!!) so far. Lots of angst, pain, and love in these. <333. (I had to move them from my bookshelf because a mouse, loose in my room, ran on top of them -- believe me, I was horrified -- anything except my precious...art journals...so I snapped a quick pic.)
It's funny, when I first started art journaling, I had no clue it was anything other than me having fun and playing around. Never thought I'd fall in love with making art this way and meet so many like-minded and talented people who also art journal. Or be inspired so much. So, thank you.
This photo is what art journaling means to me -- hard work, many hours, bliss, play, love, pain, discovery, digging, sharing, the greatest feeling next to loving someone that I've ever known...

You’ll be my world...
As long as there’s a world turning ‘round...
And you’ll be my heaven...
it reigns complete silence. you're just sitting there, looking at the mountains in the back, the clouds in the sky, the colourful trees or the calm lake and its reflection....
just amazing to get down from the stress and to relax ;)

(Mamă gradinarului)
A-nmugurit sâmburele divin.
Înseamnă, pesemne, c-a venit timp
pe cuvânt ca-i vei înmiresma viaţa-n
parfumuri de crin.
Şi nu-l vei lăsa în plină grădină
fără de-un rost.

The end of the MNYGJ, with a single DPU, comes around the curve toward the west switch of Eisele (Clay). The head end of the train is already out the west end of Eisele and heading for Blue Mountain Road! At just over 7,000 feet long, the train is over 1,200 feet longer than the siding at Eisele.

Part 20
While wandering the creek, it wasn't long before the shadows soon stretched all the way to the other side of the basin and touched the lower slopes of Mt. Langley. I returned to one of the curves in the creek that I had found earlier that I decided would be my sunset shot for the day. Here I sat down on the soft and (unknowingly) moist grass along the bank, getting the seat of my pants wet... darn it. I moved to a drier spot and waited in the cool shade for the alpine glow to set the high peaks ablaze.
These moments of patiently waiting for light are some of my favorite. The only sound was the faint babbling of the creek. In silent contemplation I waited, breathing deeply the fresh, cool, pure air of the high mountains while feeling the earth beneath me and taking in the mountainous view.
A human voice brought me back, yelled from somewhere up high, incomprehensible. The silence returned but the peacefulness did not. A short few moment later, another yell. I waited, listening, trying to understand what was being called out and trying to figure out from where it came. After about 10 minutes of intermittent yelling I determined that it was coming from the direction of camp and Sky Blue Lake but I still couldn't understand it. I dragged myself away from the spot I was waiting at to go check on Hester who, last I saw was at camp.
He was there and all was good. He hadn't heard a thing because the of the nearby waterfall. I explained to him that I was going to head up to Sky Blue Lake and make sure everything was ok. I then made the fastest accent of 350 ft that I have ever done.
When I reached the top and the lake was in view I called out, “I heard yelling, is everything ok?”
30 seconds passed with no response. So I called out again, “I heard yelling, is everything ok?”
“Yeah, everything's fine!” yelled a disembodied voice.
“Alright, have a good night.” I replied.
“Thank you.” The voice responded.
The alpine glow was now minutes away, so I quickly made my way to a small tarn and took some shots there. By then the light had mostly faded so I started heading back, disappointed that I had not gotten a shot of the alpine glow today. But as I reached the top of a small rise before the decent back down to camp I saw a shot that I liked way more than the one I waited for down in the basin along the creek. Large white boulders sitting atop black and white speckled granite slabs, the Primrose Lake Spur of Mt. Pickering (for lack of a better name) towering high overhead, Rock Creek shining below and an unnamed ridge far off in the distance glowing in the last light of day. Over all a beautiful and expansive view, and a much better shot than what I was going to get down below. A reward for setting aside my want and doing the right thing to help someone else.
After getting the shots from that spot I sat enjoying the view and listening to the absolute complete silence. Before it got too dark I made my way back to camp in the fading twilight.
I am SO pleased with how this turned out. I love the colors, and how cheerful it is. Perfect birthday gift for my daughter, turning 5 this month. I highly recommend this pattern to any crocheter - I'm pretty sure I'll be making another one sometime soon.
loose fitting short sleeved casual green linen dress with side pockets and box pleats completed. i may wear it to the vet tomorrow. i'm taking grumps for a checkup to get his flea and worm treatment :)
i've found a couple of dress patterns i'm interested in making. both are more fitted than i've been making. they are waisted dresses: one with long sleeves and the other short sleeves. these dresses introduce fitting a zip and darts to the bodice and skirt. i'll give it some thought ....

On the right hand side of the river, which is East, one can see evidence of the horrendous wildfire called Holiday Farm/McKenzie Fire. Looks like some charring on the left side (West) too, just not as bad in this particular spot. Thousands of acres are still not under complete containment as I write this (morning of October 6, 2020, and the fire started September 9th, (Labor Day).
The *soul* of this for Dave C. and other Flickr friends too, is my daughter and granddaughter lost their home miles west of this spot, and a friend completely lost her home a very short distance (almost shouting distance) east of this river.
