My friend took this/these of me entering a Souvlaki Eating Contest. She misheard "wind the film on 34 clicks" as "wind the film on 3-to-4 clicks" hence the multiple exposures. I kinda dig it though.

McGruer 8m Cruiser Racer
Designed and built by McGruer & Co. Ltd in 1965 as an 8 meter Cruiser/Racer (8m CR) to the International C/R 8m rule, incorporating all the elegance and performance of an 8m racing yacht with the comfort of a cruising boat. Originally built to Lloyds 100A1 standard. A very fine yacht for competitive modern racing in classic regattas.
Bought by the current owner in 2013 as a project, she was put into Mylor Yacht Harbour, Falmouth in 2015 where a major restoration was carried out over 3 years which included hull repairs, new decks, complete new rig and all new systems. A full list of the work done is available on request.
In 2016 she was exhibited by Mylor at the London Boatshow as a showcase of their excellent work and has since only been sailed in the local area around Falmouth, racing in a few regattas where she has been a real stand out yacht.
This yacht is a clever mix of the old and the new, an elegant cruiser racer with McGruer pedigree, fitted with modern equipment and conveniences to make her easier to handle, more comfortable and ultimately a faster boat. Her total professional restoration has left her in fine condition for the next owner to take on and enjoy without the slightest worry of having to undertake any major work in the coming years.

Construction
Planked in mahogany with splined seams and finished in Awlgrip AllWood varnish.
Sawn frames with bronze screw fastenings, interspersed with steamed oak timbers fastened with copper rivets.
Galvanised strap floors bolted to the steamed timbers with bronze bolts. All re-galvanised in 2015. On the larger sawn frames are glavanised plate steel floors side bolted to the frames.
External lead ballast keel with bronze keel bolts. All bolts new between 2015 and 2018.
Galvanised ring frame in way of the mast.
Yacht laid teak deck, glued to a marine plywood subdeck and seams payed with Sikaflex. Varnished teak cover board and toe rail all round with stainless stanchions, guard wires, pulpit and small quarter push pits.
Coachroof is unmistakably McGruer and has a raised doghouse aft. Varnished mahogany coamings with chromed bronze windows and a sheathed plywood coachroof deck.
Varnished teak handrails and dorade boxes with period chromed bronze cowlings.
Modern Lewmar deck hatches fitted on the coachroof, foredeck and aft deck.
Self draining cockpit with low varnished mahogany coamings all round and scrubbed teak thwarts. Port side thwart lifts for access to a cockpit locker. Laid teak cockpit sole in panels that lift out.
Cockpit is divided in half by the main sheet track with only the helms person sitting aft.
Wheel steering with a large stainless wheel on a pedestal with Jeffa rack and pinion connection to the rudder stock.
Rig
New rig professionally designed and fitted during the refit with all new spars, rigging and sails.
Masthead Bermudan sloop rig on a deck stepped alloy mast.
New twin spreader mast in 2016 by Sparcraft, set in a shoe on the coachroof and supported below by a steel compression post.
Slab reefing alloy boom by Sparcraft, 2016, with a performance vang.
Stainless steel standing rigging all new in 2017 to internal stainless chain plates.
Profurl headsail furling system.
Running rigging all new in 2018.
Harken mainsheet traveller across the cockpit, new 2019.
All running rigging led aft to the cockpit through clutches on the coachroof deck and a single Anderson non-self tailing winch each side.
4 x Anderson self tailing cockpit sheet winches set on varnished blocks outboard of the cockpit coamings.
Sails were all new in 2017 from Sanders Sails in Falmouth, they include mainsail, genoa, code zero and 2 x asymmetric spinnakers.
Machinery
Yanmar 3cyl 30hp diesel installed new in 2005 but with very light use.
Engine removed, professionally checked and re-installed in 2017.
Stainless steel shaft with an Aquadrive to a 3 blade feathering Darglow propeller. Gives 6 knots cruising speed.
Stainless steel fuel tank, new 2015. Racor fuel filters.
Completely re-wired in 2015 with all new panels and parts.
1 x Odyssey AGM domestic battery and a single start battery. Both charged from engine alternator or 240 volt charger when connected to shore power.
Installed shore power system with ring main.
