Ravi Drugan competed last season in the winter X Games. He's been mono skiing for three years now. Ravi lost both legs by being run over by a train when he was 15. He is now 21 and has overcome the odds to live a skiers dream.

Lot's more pics of Ravi at my face book page.

The tower tank of Steam Whistle competes for attention with the much taller CN Tower across the field. That was constructed on the site of more railway yards which were dismantled with the decline of the railways and with the relocation due to the changing pattern of railway operations in the area. Although the Steam Whistle's green tower tank is built to the pattern of railway water tanks, I'm not sure if it is one of the original track-side fixtures at the site of if the brewery has built replicas to match with their railway theme. The best North Carolina National Guard engineers compete at the 105th Engineer Battalion Sapper States Invitational, held at Fort Bragg, N.C., Sept. 12 - 13. Six trials of brain and brawn hide in a one-kilometer circle in the woods and hills of the fort. Competitors do not know what the tasks are until they navigate to each station using map and compass. “It fits the Sapper mentality, you do not know what you have to do in combat so it keeps you always ready,” said 2nd Lt. Christopher Shannon, a platoon leader with the NCNG’s 151st Mobility Augmentation Company. (U.S. Army National Guard photo by Sgt. 1st Class Robert Jordan / Released)

For a story about a senior who will be competing nationally in the senior games.

Every year in Harrison Hot Springs, British Columbia there is a sandcastle competition. (Although I think "sandcastle" is a bit of a misnomer...it's more "sand sculpting). It's held on Labour Day Weekend and stay up until Thanksgiving Weekend (that's the second weekend in October for us Canadians). I really liked the shape of this one.
