100 Cars Compete in the Largest Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational Ever
Mooresville, NC - goo.gl/S9UbRh The 2014 @OUSCI was a bit different in many ways than years past. First off, the event took place at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and secondly, the event was turned into a 2-day event. The two days turned out to be just what the doctor ordered as there were over 100 cars competing in the event.
@DetroitSpeedInc brought out the DSE 1970 #Camaro Test Car driven by Kyle Tucker and the DSE 2012 "White Monster" Camaro Test Car driven by Ryan Mathews. The two cars were stationed at Optima Alley during the @SEMAshow preparing for the event that took place the two days after SEMA.
There was a large contingent of DSE "Equipped" cars at this year's event. Everything from modern muscle to old 1960's original muscle were on hand ready to put the Detroit Speed suspension to the test during two grueling days of cone carving and high speed road course action.
The Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational is a points based competition that is looking for the top street car in the country. The competition consists of the Detroit Speed sponsored "Road Rally," the speed-stop challenge, the autocross, the design and engineering challenge as well as the @BFGoodrichTires Hot Lap Challenge.
Saturday was the first day of the competition and started out with the autocross and speed-stop challenge. The competition was fierce and non-stop as competitor after competitor staged and prepared to lay it all on the line to be named the ultimate street car. Following a full day of action, the Detroit Speed Road Rally kicked off and cruised to Shelby American, Inc.
Sunday was the BFGoodrich Hot Lap Challenge. The challenge was broken into 3 classes of competition, the novice, the advanced and finally the expert class. Each class was chalk full of DSE "Equipped" cars. It was a thrill to look up and down the staging area and see the DSE "Equipped" decal on so many amazing street machines. Ryan and Kyle ran hard in this event with Ryan finishing in 2nd place. Ryan and Bryan Johnson had their usual battle of 5th gens. It is great to see two DSE "Equipped" cars running up front in 2nd and 3rd place. The competitiveness between these two gentlemen is undeniable. The respect they have for one another is truly admirable and it shows out on the track as they battle neck and neck at virtually every event.
This has been by far the best OUSCI yet and we look forward to competing in the years to come. Congratulations to Danny Popp for his overall victory, Brandon Ranvek for his 2nd place finish and to Betim Berisha for finishing 3rd. We would also like to congratulate Bryan Johnson on capturing Detroit Speed's "Fastest Fifth Gen" award and for finishing in 4th place. DSE's own Ryan Mathews captured 5th place while Mark Stielow captured the Detroit Speed "Fastest American Iron Pre-1980" award in his amazing DSE Equipped Hellfire Camaro. Mark's Hellfire is an amazing build that he isn't afraid to get dirty. That's our kind of builder and vehicle, performance driven and track proven.

Cadets from the Tar Heel ChalleNGe Academy and the Freestate ChalleNGe Academy in Maryland traveled to Virginia Beach for the four-day event, Nov. 21-24, 2013. Journalists compete in more than 50 different categories; AGAHI Awards encourages best content in print, television, radio and online journalism.
Pakistan’s most prestigious journalism “Agahi Awards 2013” celebrated today at PNCA Islamabad. The Awards have been organized in collaboration with leading press clubs, local and international media development institutions, regulatory authorities, civil society organizations, private sector and other stakeholders. Puruesh Chaudhary Founder & President, AGAHI and Amir Jahangir Chief Executive Officer, Mishal Pakistan founded these awards in 2012.
The Agahi Awards are an annual series of awards for journalism in Pakistan, developed under the umbrella of the Credibility Lab at Mishal for creating an appreciation methodology for ethical and quality content. The evaluation methodology and criteria of the awards have been designed on the pillars of Media Development Indicators of UNESCO, in collaboratiosn with the Center for International Media Ethics (CIME) and UNESCO headquarters in Paris. The Awards were inaugurated in March 2012 and have become the most prestigious awards for the journalism in Pakistan.
The Awards have created appreciation for journalism in fifty different categories including business and economy, conflict, corruption, crime, education, infotainment, the nexus between water, energy and food security, gender and governance, health, extremism and terrorism, peace, interfaith, dignity; thus creating media diversity across print, television, radio and the online media.
Among the winners for this year’s “Agahi Awards 2013, the Journalist of the Year Award” were deigned in 50 categories. The Awards also have special categories including“Current Affairs Anchor of the Year” and “News Channel of the Year” in Pakistan. These categories are on the basis of people’s choice, which includes voting for these two categories by reaching out to more than 6 million Pakistanis through social media engagement and 1.5 million via SMS campaign and direct feedback.
GEO NEWS won the Peoples’ Choice Award for the “Most Favourite News Channel” second year around.
The “Current Affairs Anchor of the Year” Award was for two emerging anchors; won by Iqrar ul Hassan (ARY News) and Alia Nazki (BBC Urdu), as “the Emerging Current Affair Anchor of the Year” in the male and female categories. “Investigative Journalist of the Year” award was won by Asad Kharal (Express Tribune).
Ejaz Haider from Capital TV awarded the “Most Credible Anchor” based on the Media Credibility Index developed in collaboration with more than 10 journalism schools in Pakistan.
To ensure diversity in content and more social issues to be highlighted in media, Mishal Pakistan in collaboration with Save the Childrencreated the health category further dividing them into six sub-categories. This has not only increased the quantum of health content in media, but has also encouraged journalists to write more on the socio-economic challenges in Pakistan.
This year AGAHI Awards received an overwhelming response by the journalist community, where more than 1500 nominations were received from all over the country across more than 50 different categories in print, television, radio and online content.

Army National Guard NCOs and Soldiers competing in the 2012 Region VII Best Warrior tournament at Camp San Luis Obispo, Calif., woke up on their second day of the match to warm temperatures. This was a good thing because at 6 a.m. they would drop into a 70 degree pool for the mystery event: water survival. Arizona, California, Colorado, Guam, Hawaii, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah sent their two best warriors to the Golden State April 23-26 to pit their abilities against the best for that region. The water survival test would separate swimmer from sinker. After treading for five minutes the troops would swim laps, play a memory game and pull a ruck and rifle the length of an olympic pool. More than 300 cowgirls competed in the 12th annual Cowgirls with a Cause Rodeo and raised $31,000 to help provide mammograms, cancer-detection tests, and cancer treatment services to those in the community who can’t afford these potentially life-saving procedures.
Cowgirls with A Cause has now raised and donated more than $256,000 in the fight against breast cancer.
CAMP ZAMA, Japan - Hundreds of Soldiers, Airmen, civilians and their families from the Camp Zama community kicked off Army Birthday Week with sports, games and tournaments designed to build camaraderie and esprit de corps throughout U.S. Army Japan Command. For five days dozens of units from the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force and the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force will compete in various challenges to test their cumulative strength, speed, endurance and dexterity. From team sports, golf scrambles and swim relays to bowling tournaments, relay races and free throw competitions, the Army Birthday Week events offer a variety of team competitions and individual contests that maximize appeal across the entire sports spectrum.
The “Not in My Squad” challenge offered the most unique competition appearing in this week’s lineup. Nine representatives from Camp Zama’s Army and Air Force units endured a series of physically draining events spread along a three-mile route. The teams worked together to carry five-gallon cans of water to each event where they performed various exercises comprising hundreds of pushups, situps, pullups, tire flips and kettle bell curls. The challenge concluded with a role-play scenario that tested the teams’ cumulative knowledge about how to handle a sexual harassment incident.
A unit that wins first place in a specific event earns five points, while second and third place finishes earn three and two points respectively. Every unit that participates in an event earns one point.
As of June 15, 2016, U.S. Army Aviation Battalion maintains the lead with 35 points. The 441st Military Intelligence Battalion holds second place with 29 points and Medical Department Activity-Japan pulled into third place with 27 points. U.S. Army Japan (USARJ) remains in fourth place with 23 points. Since Monday USARJ has earned third place in the soccer tournament, second place in the "Not in My Squad" challenge, and first place in the swim relay.
On Friday, June 17, all teams will convene at the Camp Zama High School sports complex to compete to foot races and cheer on their comrades in the annual tug-of-war bout and soccer match between the JGSDF’s Central Readiness Force U.S. service members stationed Camp Zama.

100 Cars Compete in the Largest Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational Ever
Mooresville, NC - goo.gl/S9UbRh The 2014 @OUSCI was a bit different in many ways than years past. First off, the event took place at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and secondly, the event was turned into a 2-day event. The two days turned out to be just what the doctor ordered as there were over 100 cars competing in the event.
@DetroitSpeedInc brought out the DSE 1970 #Camaro Test Car driven by Kyle Tucker and the DSE 2012 "White Monster" Camaro Test Car driven by Ryan Mathews. The two cars were stationed at Optima Alley during the @SEMAshow preparing for the event that took place the two days after SEMA.
There was a large contingent of DSE "Equipped" cars at this year's event. Everything from modern muscle to old 1960's original muscle were on hand ready to put the Detroit Speed suspension to the test during two grueling days of cone carving and high speed road course action.
The Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational is a points based competition that is looking for the top street car in the country. The competition consists of the Detroit Speed sponsored "Road Rally," the speed-stop challenge, the autocross, the design and engineering challenge as well as the @BFGoodrichTires Hot Lap Challenge.
Saturday was the first day of the competition and started out with the autocross and speed-stop challenge. The competition was fierce and non-stop as competitor after competitor staged and prepared to lay it all on the line to be named the ultimate street car. Following a full day of action, the Detroit Speed Road Rally kicked off and cruised to Shelby American, Inc.
Sunday was the BFGoodrich Hot Lap Challenge. The challenge was broken into 3 classes of competition, the novice, the advanced and finally the expert class. Each class was chalk full of DSE "Equipped" cars. It was a thrill to look up and down the staging area and see the DSE "Equipped" decal on so many amazing street machines. Ryan and Kyle ran hard in this event with Ryan finishing in 2nd place. Ryan and Bryan Johnson had their usual battle of 5th gens. It is great to see two DSE "Equipped" cars running up front in 2nd and 3rd place. The competitiveness between these two gentlemen is undeniable. The respect they have for one another is truly admirable and it shows out on the track as they battle neck and neck at virtually every event.
This has been by far the best OUSCI yet and we look forward to competing in the years to come. Congratulations to Danny Popp for his overall victory, Brandon Ranvek for his 2nd place finish and to Betim Berisha for finishing 3rd. We would also like to congratulate Bryan Johnson on capturing Detroit Speed's "Fastest Fifth Gen" award and for finishing in 4th place. DSE's own Ryan Mathews captured 5th place while Mark Stielow captured the Detroit Speed "Fastest American Iron Pre-1980" award in his amazing DSE Equipped Hellfire Camaro. Mark's Hellfire is an amazing build that he isn't afraid to get dirty. That's our kind of builder and vehicle, performance driven and track proven.

Gran Canaria, Canary Islands (Friday, May 13, 2011) – Round Three was completed today leaving the final 16 surfers to battle it out for this year’s Asp 3-Star Islas Canarias Santa Pro Junior title. Strong onshore winds abated offering clean 3ft (1m) peaks for some high performance displays of surfing by Europe’s best under-21 athletes at the main event site of La Cicer.
Surfers competing at the Islas Canarias Santa Pro Junior, event nº3 of 7 on the Asp European Pro Junior Series, are out to claim the valuable ranking points on offer at this 3-Star rated event and place themselves in the race for the overall European Pro Junior title and the chance to compete in the Asp World Junior Series starting in Bali, Indonesia on October 3, 2011.
It was fellow countrymen Miguel Blanco (PRT) 15, and Joao Kopke (PRT) 15 who stole the show today with their heart-stopping performances in Round Three of competition. Both youngsters scraped through in second position in their respective heats with only moments to spare.
Blanco, who made the quarter-finals last week in Somo Pro Junior, fought back after receiving an interference call earlier in the heat. Sitting in 4th position and needing a solid score, Blanco performed two backhand smashes on a critical left peak to secure a 5.90 out of 10 with under one minute remaining on the clock.
“I am really excited at the moment. I had an interference and I was needing a high 5 and I got a 5.90 on my last wave so I am really happy right now. My coach said that if you have a bad moment not to give up and just start from the beginning and it went well today for me.”
Joao Kopke (Estoril, PRT) 15, held off an inform Ander Mendiguren (Sopelana, EUK) 18, to advance behind fellow countryman Vasco Ribeiro (PRT). Kopke got off to a solid start and held his position for the majority of the encounter before Mendiguren got going and jumped into second place. In the final moments Kopke played his last card on a long right which Ribeiro could have taken. A combination of snaps locked in the modest score required to return to the second place.
“It was a tight heat for sure. I was sitting in second when Ander (Mendiguren) got a wave that put him ahead of me. In the end Vasco (Ribeiro) helped me to catch that right and I got in two turns and made it through so I’m stoked.”
Kopke, who suffers from tremendous nerve attacks before each heat, kept his cool during the entire clash and has started to work on his approach to competition to help overcome his major handicap.
“This is my best result so far actually. I have never got a big result surfing in the Pro Juniors because I always get so nervous but now I am realising that my surfing is not good when I am like that. I am still learning. I am not thinking too much about results and just concentrating on my surfing because that is the way to go. If I focus too much on the results I know I am not going to pass any heats.”
Top seed Ramzi Boukhiam (MAR) 17, easily advanced ahead of Jose Ferreira (PRT) 19, with both surfers finding the higher scoring potential waves both lefts and rights. Boukhiam who currently sits in 4th position on the Asp European Pro Junior rankings must continue his excellent form into the business end of competition if he is to remain in the hunt for the 2011 European Junior title.
“The conditions today are better today because there is no wind but it is still super slow and hard to surf so you have to get the big ones. I went out looking for the lefts and my trainer told me to wait for the set waves and that is what I did. With just two big turns you can get a score and on the smaller waves you might do 4 or 5 soft turns and get a 3.”
Pablo Pola (Hendaye, FRA) 19, advanced with one of his best performances of the year showing strength on his forehand and backhand. With a 6.33 to open his account Pola built on his backup score during the remainder of the heat to finish with a two-wave heat total of 11.23 out of 20 and a pass into Round Four.
“The waves are so difficult because there is not a lot of power so it is hard but if you find a good one it is easy to win your heat. I made my heat and I didn’t really worry too much. I am here to have fun and it is better if you surf to have fun instead of being so focussed for me. I had a big breakfast and it is better because it makes me stronger for my heat.”
Medi Veminardi (Saint-Leu, REU) 19, built on a slow start to capture two solid scores displaying his talents in the changing conditions. Power and speed were the trademarks of another professional performance by Veminardi as he goes one step closer to taking out the Islas Canarias Santa Pro Junior 2011.
“I didn’t get any waves at the start and Pablo (Pola) had the only wave of the heat. I didn’t stress and stuck to my game plan and it worked. I was definitely looking for rights and usually I score well on them but the lefts seemed to break a bit more often. I had a 6 on the left and a 6 on the right so I won’t change anything.”
Francisco Alves (PRT) 17, built on his scores during the entire heat to finish behind event favourite Dimitri Ouvre (BRB) who put in another dominating performance. Alves struggled to find a decent scoring ride and had to change tactics late in the clash to advance.
“At the beginning of the heats I never take good waves always at the final moments. I spend too much time waiting for waves and I need to start work on my heat earlier. I didn’t stress too much in the final moments and I got second so it is worth it.”
“I got to the Quarters in Reunion which was also a 3 Star so it would be nice to make the Quarters again or maybe even further,” continued Alves. “It is really tough but I will try my best and not wait for the bomb next time. I will just try and work my heat and we will see how it goes next time.”
