A two-part playful live collaboration:
Preliminary “lab” (3 hours, restricted to registered participants, 10.30-13.30) and “multimedia intervention” (2 hours, open to the public, 14.30-16.30)
The Sandbox Project is a series of experimental production labs in different cities bringing together artists, activists and techies to reflect creatively on the in/compatibility and diversity of artivist practices. Activism Beyond the Interface (The Berlin Sandbox) is a two-part playful live collaboration consisting of a preliminary “lab” (3 hours) followed by a “multimedia intervention” (2 hours) to rethink the composition of online and offline platforms for collaboration, and their economic, aesthetic and ethical expressions. The Sandbox searches for critical ways to transpose the FOSS concept of interoperability to social dynamics in the field of artivism. With the help of relational exercises and items provided, lab participants will draw on their artistic, social, media and technological skills to collectively create a technology-based or performative intervention that reprogrammes the Café Global Stage at HKW as a space of (socio-technical) interoperability. While the lab is open to registrants only, the second part of the Sandbox will be open to the public. The lab is part of a network of Sandbox projects developed in Toronto, Montreal and Mexico City.

Through Peter Zumthors text, i was interested how he spoke about material compatibility and light. He talks about, using a material in different ways and something different will appear each time. " There are thousand of possibilties in one material alone..." He then mentions the weight of material " materials react to one another..."
In the section of the reading "The light of things" he mentions how light falls and then you start to see shadows form. And when a light touches a surface it begins to create their own depth. "Way the surfaces were dull or sparkled..." This is something that i would want to explore the way material can be used in different ways - projecting a material using light onto a contrasting surface was my main idea.

"Corrosion and Compatibility of Nuclear Materials,"
Materials play a critical role in the long-term integrity of nuclear applications. The existing materials in the nuclear industry are being pushed well beyond their original design life. The expanding use of new coatings, fuels, coolants, and other materials for the nuclear industry in new applications also need to be ensured through compatibility testing. These materials will be analyzed for safe long-term usage through compatibility and corrosion tests that provide insight into the development, selection, and maintenance of these materials. A wide variety of analyses performed by previous researchers exists but no overlying capability to assess the value of the data and to use it currently exists. The U.S. Department of Energy is sponsoring a project to develop a materials compatibility database that will compile and assess the existing literature and perform testing to fill the gaps in the existing research. Users, designers, regulators, and others involved in the nuclear industry are invited to participate in this groundbreaking new research project. Details regarding the materials compatibility project database will be given with a focus on corrosion issues. The development and use of a new furnace system for simultaneous assessment of numerous materials will also be presented.

Halloween night was pretty boring until this guy came to light up my night.
I would have liked to upload this in time for Halloween, but my time schedule has just been killing me lately. I would have had it up the day after were it not for some problems (locking up and losing my work whenever I click "save as") I was getting from Photoshop at home. Even going through a long reinstall of the program did not fix the issue, but at least I found a loophole to remedy my situation.
Here is the complete 1981 merchandising guide. It contains color and vinyl selections, interior cloth and leather choices, option compatibility and recommendations, as well as technical and demographic information as they pertain to each model.
Some scans of the vinyl/leather/cloth choices are a little blurred, as my scanner could not work with the non flat surface of the page. They also tried a centerfold of each series in this guide which didn't really work out as far as scanning with a standard size device. Enjoy!
